    Princeton is erecting an additional building for its Scientific
Department. It will contain laboratories for bacteriological and
kindred investigations.
Since her foundation Yale has graduated 16,255 men; Harvard,
19,255, and Princeton 8,733.
Nearly $50,000 has been given to Harvard by her graduates
and others since last commencement.
President Harper, of Chicago University, has forbidden all stu
dents to join fraternities during their Freshman year.

zine. It is to be called the ‘‘Lakeside Magazine.”
The highest salary received by any college professor is that of
Professor Turner, of Edinburg, $20,000.
The library of Princeton has received from an alumnus a collec
tion of books in classical and Mediaeval Latin, printed in the fif
teenth century.
Provisions have been made for teaching the Japanese language
at the University of Chicago.
Cornell possesses a $50,000 gymnasium exclusively for women
which is the largest and best equipped female gymnasium in the
world.
At the University of Chicago, the University Press assumes the
responsibility of managing, distributing, and printing its six
journals, its books, pamphlets, and other publications,
Vassar College has a Freshman class of over 200 students.
The first Chinese woman doctor to be graduated in an American
medical college was given her degree this year at the Women’s
Medical College in Philadelphia.
