With this number the Free Fance enters upon a new exist ence—an existence which we hope will be a creditable one. It has been enlarged and the form changed. This change, which breaks an established custom of nearly ten years, is made after a careful and earnest consideration. When the present staff assumed their duties they imagined the Free IvANCE to be a typical college journal and a worthy repre sentative; but the fact that we were behind the times in college journalism was strikingly apparent when we compared the Tance with many of our exchanges.
