and gets the ball on downs. Short rushes through
the line and end running takes the ball back to
mid-field, where Oberlin again gets it on downs.
They rush it to our thirty yard line and then send
it around the end for a touchdown but it is not
allowed on account of foul interference. State
wakens up and secures the ball on downs and
takes it almost to the center of the field only to
lose it there on downs. Oberlin then makes a
long run of forty yards around the end and this
with a few short rushes secures them a touchdown
from which a goal is kicked by Young. Atherton
kicks and no gain is made on the catch. State
gets the ball on downs and rushes it to Oberlin's
fifteen yard line only to lose it on a fumble. The
ball is rushed back to the center of the field and
the half ends with ball in our possession on our
forty yard line. Score 6too in favor of Oberlin.
Oberlin starts the second half with a kick of thir
ty yards and Suter fails to gain on the catch.
State then keeps the ball through a series of end
runs and line buckings until they score a touch
down after nine minutes of play. The ball is
punted out but Atherton fails to kick a goal on
account of a strong wind. Oberlin kicks off and
Atherton returns the kick, when they rush the
ball to the center of the field. Here State gets
the ball on downs and kicks to Oberlin's ten yard
line. They return the kick and Thomas makes a
free catch near the side line and on the twenty
five yard line. He holds the ball, and Atherton
kicks a difficult field goal. During the remaining
ten minutes of the half the playing was in Ober
lin's territory and the game ended with the ball
in State's hands on Oberlin's three yard line.
The-features of the game were Atherton's kicking
and line breaking, Fisher's tackling, and Harris'
swashing of Oberlin's flying interference. All '
the team played excellent ball, and the game was
a remarkably clean and ()lien one. For Oberlin,
Fauver and Streator did the the best work. al
though the whole team played fine ball. Score ;

The last game of the season and one of the
most interesting was played on Thanksgiving day
against the Pittsburg Athletic Club on their
grounds. The condition of the grounds was all
that could be asked, while the pleasantness of the
day drew a large number of spectators. The au•
dience amounted to at least five thousand. Many
of them wore the blue and white and cheered
State's numerous brilliant plays. The backs all
played their usual good game, and were well sup•
ported by the line. The game was characterized
by the pleasant good humor of both sides, which
produced great enthusiasm in the audience.
The game opened with a kick off by State.
McNeil caught and made a short run. P. A. C.
was soon forced to kick. State lost the ball on
downs but immediately regained it on a fumble.
The ball was steadily taken down the field when
Atherton was pushed over the line for a touch
down and afterwards kicked goal. This was the
only scoring during the first half. Atherton was
slightly hurt and Stuart took his place.
The playing during the second half was as
spirited as in the first. Several changes were
made in P. A. C's. right end, three men succes
ively filling that position. A touchdown by
Robison and goal by Stuart were added to the
score of the first half. State secured a safety by
blocking a punt at the five yard line, making the
P. A. C. vs. State.
