    —The Scientific Association meets on the first
and third Tuesdays of each month. It is com
posed of professors, who are active members ;. and
instructors and six students of the Senior class who
are associate members. Scientific subjects of in
terest are discussed at each meeting.
On Tuesday, May x, the subject of house sani
tation was discussed, very interesting papers being
read by Prof. Foss and Treas. Hamilton.
—Dr. Geo. W. Atherton returned on Tuesday,
May rst, from an extended tour of the western and
southern part of the United States and Mexico
where he has been for his health. He visited
many universities and colleges and reports a pleas
ant trip. His return was gladly welcomed by all,
a large crowd of students meeting him at the sta
tion and giving him a rousing cheer when he
stepped from the train, a manifestation which was
repeated in the chapel on the following morning.
—The second handicap meeting was held on
the Beaver athletic field, May 5. The weather
was unfavorable for the sports, as it rained part of
the afternoon, and prevented many from viewing
them. The different events were as follows :

J. White '94 broke the college record for 440

Harder '95 in running high jump equaled the
college record.

On the whole the boys did surprisingly gOod
work and it shows the comparison between this
and previous years' teams
We wish to correct a mistake made in last issue
concerning the silver cups. The cup for throwing
the hammer and putting the shot was presented
by Prof. Willard, and the one given by - Prof
Emery was for the mile and half mile races.
Ex-'97. Miss Edna McClelland left college on
account of ill health, for a short time but has
since returned to her work.
'96. H. A. Kuhn was called home during the
early part of the term.
Ex-'96. E. D. Bricker has received an appoint
ment to West Point and reports for duty on June
loth. His principal failed and he was successful
through examinations taken in Baltimore during
the first week in March.

M. C. A. Convention of the Altoona District,
held at Huntingdon, April 27th-3oth.
X 93• S. H. Brown is now located at Ashville,
North Carolina.
Ex-'93. Sidney Krurnrine, , who was recently
graduated at the Philadelphia College of Pharma
cy, has charge of a drug store at Bellefonte.
PERSONALS
