—Our foot ball game with Princeton for Wed
nesday, Oct. 12, was declared off as the guarantee
offered us by Princeton was not sufficient to de
fray the expenses of the trip and the financial con
dition of our Athletic Association would not war
rant such an expenditure as would have been nec
essary had the trip been taken.
—The Sophmore class has eight new men, an
increase of five over the number oflastyear. The
new men are C. D. Findley, Butler, E. D. Green,
Filmore, H. C. Jackson, New Castle, W. K. Gib
bony, Bellville, S. F. Herr, Neale, L. A. Reed,
Alexandria, W. N. Whitten, Noblestown, B. F.
Williams, Wilkesbarre.
- —The reserve foot ball team of the college went
to Altoona on Sat, Oct. Bth to play a game with
the team from the latter place. It was a hard
fought game but the Altoonians were too heavy
for our boys and defeated them 16-6. A game is
being arranged with the team from Williamsport
Y. M. C. A. to be played at the latter place.
—The new Second Assistant position is filled
by the appointment of Mr. W. J. Karslake, La
fayette ’9l, who brings in addition to his experi
ences in the Lafayette laboratories, a valuable ex
perience from his last years work which was on
the rare metals, under the guidance of Dr. Wal
cott Gibbs at his private laboratory at Newport,
R. I.
—A meeting of the Cleveland and Stevenson
Club was held Sept. 20. The officers elected
were, —President, Boyd Musser ’94, Vice Presi
dent B. B. Horton, ’95, Secretary, J. M. Brewer,
’94, anil Treasurer, A. Hoy, 96. The Executive
Committee of the club is composed of Damon,

Phi Kappa Sigma house. Mr. Beyer called the
