    The foot-ball eleven has elected C. E. Aull,
'92, captain
Rumberger, '92, was recently made second as
sistant librarian by the college authorities.
John F. Foster and G. R. Wieland formerly of
'92 have returned to college and entered '93.
The present Freshmen class has a membership
of sixty-five and is one of the largest in the history
of the college.
The college orchestra furnished the music at
the Business Men's Carnival held in Bellefonte,
on October Ist.
A new improvement, and a decided one, has
been made by keeping the lights in the hall on
during the entire night.
The orchestra under the leadership of Prof. I
R Beyer, is now practising every evening and is
in better trim than last year.
The following men compose the foot-ball com
mittee: Ann '92, Hite '92, Shields '92, Will
iamson '93 and Spence '95.
Messrs. Wanamaker and Brown have establish
ed a permanent agency at thii place under the
charge of f. P. Aikns '94.
Up to date there has been enrolled two hun.
dred and nineteen students. Of this number
ninety are here for the first time
At a special meeting of the Wa hington Literary
Society, S. G. Crawford '92 was elected President
and E. T. Pyne '94, Vice President.
The Tonsorial shop of "Dad" Gilkey is being
run by Fred Weld, he having b night the good
will and fixtures of the genial "Dad,"

The following men compose the General Ath
letic committee for the ensuing year: Read, Hil
debrand and Aull of '92, Dowler '94 and Cart-
wright '95.
The college is putting up two handsome brick
residences in the grove in the rear of The Ladies'
Cottage, They are to be occupied by Professors
Reber and Pemberton.
Old and new students alike will appreciate the
recent renovation of the post office and especially
the new lock boxes which will do away with a
great deal of tedious waiting.
Mr. E. H. Haley, '9O of Haverford has enter
ed college and is taking a post graduate course in
chemistry. He also fills the position of instructor
formerly occupied by W. H. Walker, '9o.
The new fire escapes which are being put on the
main college building will be quite an improve
ment over the ones which only reached about half
way from the upper story to the ground.
W. P. Rothrock '93 has started a new boarding
club at Mrs. Craigs. It is to be: known as the
Clever Club. It has a membership of twenty-six.
W. P. Rothrock is Caterer and Payne P. Sturde
vain is Treasurer.
The dirt from the excavation for the new En
gineering Building is being used to grade in front
of the eillege Armory. When this has been done,
and a lawn is secured, it will make
t one of the
prettiest parts of the campus.
At a maating of the Athletic Association on
September loth, the following officers were elect
ed : Read, '92 President, Loyd, '92 Vice Presi
dent ; F. Mattern, '94 Secretary ; Shields; '92
Treasurer ; Belt, '94 Marshal.
Work on the new Engineer building is going
rapidly onward. The cellar is being excavated
as fast as possible and some parts of the wall have
been laid. The contract for the brick and wood
work will be let during the fall. When finished
the P. S. C. will have one of the finest buildings
fur that special purpose in the country.
