    Tyrone, Pa. It occurrad at Atlanta, Georgia,
where he had been working on an engineer corps,
on June i9th, the cause being brain fever.
'9l. F. P. Atherton spent several weeks at the
home of his father, President Atherton, in the pre-
sent month.
Ex-'9l. Ryland W. Green will go to England
this summer with the boat crew of the University
Pennsylvania, of which he is a member.
'9O Phil. Gossler who is with the Edison Co., of
New York city, visited his Alma Mater on the 22,
'9o. J. W. Walker has Leen staying about the
college for a few days.
'9O. W. H. Walker will sail for Europe on the
steamer Friesland on the sth of August. He will
go to Germany where he will remain for several
years pursuing the study of chemistry at Heidel
berg University and at the Berlin Polytechnic In.

'9O. W. P. Brew, now located at Pittsburg,
spent a week's vacation on a visit to his parents'
home in Bellefonte during the latter part of May.
He also called to see his friends at the College
while off duty.
'go. I. C. M. Ellenberger was married to Miss
Hastings, olGraysville, May 13th. He has accept
ed a position as Principal of a school in Ky.
'B9. James Foster, who has been employed as
Chemist in one of the leading firms of Pittsburg,
is now filling a similar, but more lucrative, position
in Virginia.
'B9. H. C. Blair has been at his home, in Tyrone,
for some time suffering from an attack of sickness.
He expects to return to his studies at the Law
School in Philadelphia, as soon as he recovers.
'B5. P. F. Nshikian, who has his headquarters
in Kansas City Mo., and who has been employed
as chemist in that city for several years, is now
publishing a book entitled "Nihilism."
'B3. Rev W. C. Calder, who has for several

years been in India as a missionary and who has
been for some months at his home in Harrisburg,
recuperating his health, is now making a short visit
to State College.
'Bi Co. Supt. D. 0. Etters is one of the Board
of examiners to visit the Lock Haven Normal
June 16th, 17th and 18th.
'79. Prof. G. U. Johnstonbaugh, principal of
the Bellefonte High School visited the College
recently
Mr. Rogers, of Cornell University, was visting
Prof. Osmond a few days
Mr. J. 'l'. Pyke, formerly assistant in the prepar
atory department, has entered the ministry and is
now preaching at Providence, R. I.
Prof. G. G. Pond, the head of our department
of chemistry, will go abroad during the summer
vacation to visit and inspect some of the leading
laboratories of Germany ; some of the mines and
metallurgical works both in England and on the
continent and manufactories of chemical appa
ratus ; to make some purchases for the college and
in general to ,keep in touch with the advancing
progress in chemistry. He will sail by the Teu
tonic on July Ist arid return by the Majestic on
August 20, from Liverpool.
On June Gth, Dr.Atherton delivered the gradua
tion address to the class of '9I of the W. S. Naval
Academy, at Annapolis.
Ex. Gov. James A. Beaver, together with his son
Gilbert,of '9o, attended the exercises in the College
Chapel May 24th. Gilbert conducted the Y. M.
C. A. meeting in the evening.
Mr. Moses Thompson, of Centre furnace, who
was the treasurer of the college some years since,
died at his residence at an advanced age, on Fri
day, June 19th, and was buried at the Branch
cemetery on June 21st. -
A football league is to be formed between Col
umbia, Cornell, Lehigh, and Wesleyan.
