At the close• of the meeting the following resolu
tions were adopted :
WHEREAS, the Legislature and Governor of the
commonwealth have recognized the needs of the
Pennsylvania State College in a substantial man
ner, and
WHEREAS, the greater part of the demonstra
tion of these needs devolved upon the executive
head of the institution Be it
Resolved, That the faculty and students of the
Pennsylvania State College hereby express their
deep and grateful appreciation of the Governor of
the Commonwealth in making such appropria
tions for this institution as will greatly facilitate
all branches of its work, and especially that of the
departments of Mechanical and Civil Engineer
ing. They are the more gratified in view of the
fact that the action both of the Legislature and of
the Governor was taken after careful and search
ing inquiry, and they pledge themselves to spare
no pains to justify the good will and confidence
thus expressed.
Resolved, That a copy of the above resolution be
sent to His Excellency, the Governor, and to each
member of the Legislature.
Resolved, That the faculty and students of the
Pennsylvania State College, and the citizens of the
community, hereby tender President Atherton a
hearty acknowledgement of his untiring efforts, his
unbounded enthusiasm and his careful adminis
tration which have secured to P. S. C. this new
promise of *growth and prosperity.
Resolved, That a transcript of these resolutions
be placed in his hands.

A most interesting match game of base-ball
was played on Saturday afternoon, June 20, be
tween the Sophomore and Freshman teams which

resulted in a victory for '94. For the first three
or four innings neither team scored, but through
several costly errors in the fourth inning on the
"Sophs" part, the Freshmen managed to get in
four runs. Then followed close playin '•, the
"Sophs" scoring one run in the fifth and one in
the seventh. The Freshmen scored two runs in
the eighth inning and the Sophs one, the game
ending with a score of 6.3 in favor of '94.

is now traveling through Europe.
Ex•'94. H, P. Dowler has been serving on an
Engineer Corps for several months. Ile has a
very good position but will only hold it until the
Fall session, begins when he will again enter• '94,
'94. W. H. Brown, who had been sick with
the "La Grippe" for several weeks, returned to
his home in Philadelphia. lie will tour!) to Col
lege in September.
'93. J. J. Kintner left college the beginning of
May. lie expects to return in Sept. to resume his
college duties.
Ex-'92. It is with regret that we are compelled
to announce the sad death of Harry C. Kinsel, of
