COLLEGE ORBIT. The tuition of Clark University is $2OO. The French government has despatched a delegate to study the workings of the various branches of athletics in American colleges. Cornell and Lehigh both claim fourth place in foot ball rank. The class of '92, at Princeton, holds the interclass championship in base ball, lawn tennis and lacrosse. Ex-President McCosh, of Princeton, has severed his connection with the college en tirely, as far as instruction goes. The students of Johns Hopkins Univers ity have secured the athletic grounds of the Baltimore Y. M. C. A. for practice. Ames, of Princeton, has been practicing pole-vaulting lately, and is now the best vaulter in college, having cleared 9 feet 4 inches. E LANCE. THE FRE A new chapter of Sigma Phi is about to be established at Cornell. Cornell has already more fraternities than any other American college. The students at Andover have a post-office for their own use in the Academy building. It consists of a nuit'ber of lock boxes and is managed by a student. The new grounds of the Olympic Athletic Club, San Francisco, are nearly completed, and $175,000 of the %250,000 club-house bonds have been taken. Cornell has graduated two women archi tects. One has a position in an office at Buffalo, and the other will have a fellowship at Cornell for the ensuing year. A committee has been appointed by Columbia to consider the formation of a league next year between Cornell, Columbia, Lehigh, Lafayette and Rutgers colleges. A debate will be held at Princeton, on Washington's birth-day, between four men, one from each class. The debate will be on a political question, and a prize of $5O will be awarded to the best debater. The Amherst College Glee Club made a long Christmas trip. There are twenty-four Japanese students in the University of Michigan. In American colleges there are 3847 men who are preparing for the ministry. There are 34 men in the Harvard Fresh man Glee club, and five men in the Banjo club, The Senior Class at Columbia has ordered an assessment of $ to on each member, for the class day expenses. The Alpha Delta Phi Fraternity at Am herst has given the college a fellowship in history and economic science.
