The third inning opened bright for us. McLean made a hit on which he stole clear around to third, but was caught napping and died there, Musser, c., followed with a base on balls and was advanced to third by Mock’s hot grounder to Davis, both men scored on Brew’s hit, the latter being brought in by a hit by Ellenberger, after which Aull and Mus ser retired the side, leaving the score s to i in favor of Pennsylvania State College. Dickinson’s first three men went out on strikes and a fly to Jackson, which was cap tured after a pretty run. In the fourth for the college Woodcock, Jackson and Musser, c., made outs, leaving McLean on second. For the visitors Miller made a hit and scored on a base on balls and a passed third strike, and was followed by the outs of Hauck, Swartz and Davis. The fifth inning yielded but one run which was made by Ellenberger’s base on balls, two scratches and a sacrifice. We received three “ zips ” in our half of the sixth, and Dickinson ended, its run getting by Hauck’s scoring,, after Miller had gone out at first, on two passed balls, Landis and Swartz retiring the side on strikes. The seventh, eighth, and ninth innings were characterized by sharp fielding and bril liant play, neither side scoring. The game throughout was well played and interesting, and we feel quite jubilant over the result, as the Dickinson team is a strong one (although it has been having hard luck luck this spring). The club is composed of nine gentlemen, and Pennsylvania State Col lege knows how to appreciate this fact. THE FREE LANCE.
