    The corps of cadets have sent in a petition
to the Faculty asking them to permit the corps
to attend the inauguration of President-elect
Harrison
The brick work of the new chemical and
physical laboratory is about completed. The
building when finished will be the finest struct
ure on the grounds.
. 44 Sarah" Swank wished to go calling the
other evening, but when the time arrived for
her to make her toilet, the clothes which she
intended wearing had disappeared. It is need
less to say she was angry.
The new cadets arc drilling very well, Taren
tum thinks they are 'far superior to the old
ones. Good boy, Tarentum, self praise is far
superior to any other while you are a private,
but wait until you have to put a shine on one
of the cannon.
Since the three bears were killed at Shingle
town, our hunters have had a hungering for
wild meat. Hamilton, Kessler, Bates and
others went to Bear Meadows to search for
bruin, but came back without finding him.
They came back not braver but wiser.
Billy Stewart went hunting the other clay to
shoot a bear. After he got into the woods
and was searching around for his game he saw
a deer, and was so badly scared that he climbed
a tree and left his gun on the ground. Brace
up Billy, smaller men than you have braved a
" clear."
A woman is not a mathematician, therefore
a woman cannot be an electrician, because an
electrician must be a mathematician, Now,
" Lucy" Linsz wants to be an electrician, but
"Lucy" is a woman, therefore "Lucy" cannot
be an electrician, because an electrician must
be a mathematician.

Butz, Struble and Brew; Second tenors, Waite,
Mock; First bass, Walker, J. M., Demmir4 . );, 8.,
and Linsz; Second bass, Prof. Bohn, Walker,
J. 8., and Blair. The club meets every Satur
day at IP. M. Prof. Butz acts as leader.
There has been a very marked improvement
in the village of State College during the past
summer. Several handsome residences have
been erected which acid to the beauty of the
little village. We predict that not many years
hence the village of State College will com
pare favorably with many of the older college
towns.
"Aunt Sally" drilling the awkward squad in
the manual. "You m-must learn t-to c-c-carry
your g-g-guns right. There now, that's r-right,
thats r-right. No I-laughing in r-ranks, Now
then 1-look here once. To c-c-come to p-pres
ent, b-bring the g-g-gun out to t-the f-front this
way. P-ppay at-attention there Mr. Williams
St. S-Squad, r-rest !
A large number of the students received
boxes of sweet-meats from home to remind
them that it was Thanksgiving day. These
boxes were filled with the choicest good things
nature and skill could produce. We can speak
as " one having authority," because ye editors
were not forgotten in the distribution. Thanks,
boys, we hope you will receive boxes next
year about Thanksgiving time.
Dr. George W. Atherton, our president, and
chairman of the Industrial Commission, gave
a brief review of the work of the Commission
November i 6, at a meeting held at Pittsburgh.
He said, " We do not favor the industrial side of
the idea at the expense of the mental. We hope
to have some system adopted by which manual
and mental training of the pupils may be car
ried on side by side in our public schools."
