The Keystone Chapter of the Q, T. V. Frater nity was established at the Pennsylvania State College in 1884. Regular meetings are held every Friday night in a commodious hall, nicely fitted out, situated in the village. Several very promis ing young men of this fraternity have graduated at this institution and are holding high positions in the vocations of life. A chapter was lately established at Cornell and the inaugural cere monies were conducted in a creditable manner. This being a new feature of the FREE LANCE to give space to Society and Fraternity news we will take this opportunity to send greetings to our alumni brothers. • Theta Nu Epsilon Sophomore Society was estab lished at the Pennsylvania State College in May, 1888. The chapter is well organized and bids fair to hold its rank among the chapters of the society. Thirteen of the fifty fraternity men in Congress are members of the Beta Theta Pi. Daniel W. Voorhees, Mathew S. Quay and Charles J. Faulkner are members of the Senate. William M. Springer, Robert R. Hitt, Jacob G. Pughsley, Wil liam E. Fuller, William Elliott, John M. Allen, John M. Glover, Courtland C. Matson, William D. Bynum and Jonas G. Howard, are members of the House of Representatives. Among the pre sent Governors, James A. Beaver, and Mr. Francis (lately elected) are ardent Betas. The fraternity was organized in 1839, at Miami University. It has fifty-one chapters in good standing and a very loyal alumni ; its club house, Wooglin-on- THE FREE LANCE. Chautauqua, is the resort . of many of the alumni members, as well as active members of the fratern ity who spend the summer months there in a very pleasant manner. , Fou Ypsilon Tset, a local college fraternity, was organized at the Pennsylvania State College, No vember 5, 1888; it has at present ten . members.
