UNTRIED as we are, it would seem
fitting that we should give to all
whom it may concern assuring promises
of at least our best effort. Two things
keep us from being too emphatic in do
ing this : First, we do not in any event
wish to fail to keep a promise once
made ; second, whether it be' worse to
withhold such a becoming promise or
to promise one's best and have it pro
nounced poor, is yet a question with us.

so earnestly advocated by Prof. Heston,
is established here and is being pursued
by six students. We regret, however,

place where any person may obtain that
kind and degree of education which is
most directly suited to his circum.
stances and purposes in life," should
give more encouragement to such a
course. Prof. Heston is in charge of
this department, and we feel sure that
it will be made a success, as he is a man
possessing a vast amount of experience
in practical teaching, and a clear con
ception of educational doctrines and
methods.

choice. We unqualifiedly urge every
student to attend and take an interest
in some one of the classes offered. This
is always the duty of every student and
