nia ranks among the best of college publications
which come to us. As a literary magazine, and
also in its breadth of range among the topics of
the day, it deserves the most complimentary no
tice.
The Campus, Allegheny College, in its at
tractive dress has made its very welcome appear
ance in our sanctum. We wish to return our
thanks for the kindly words and criticism re
ceived at the hands of a journal whose good will
is to be valued. We can say of The Campus
that it evinces a versatile genius throughout, and
possesses an editorial department- able to make
itself felt at home and a literary department
which cannot fail to make itself pleasing and
respected abroad.
We are pleased to be acknowledged by the
Pennsylvania College Monthly. But will the
Monthly be kind enough to inform us exactly
what it means (1) by speaking of an institution as
an “agricultural school(2) by the remark that
it “floats the name Pennsylvania State College;”
(3) that it “feeds so freely at the State crib ?”
If it will kindly enlighten us on these points,
we may then have something more to say. But,
until it does so, we shall be compelled to assume
what the paragraph plainly shows, that the writer
of it is utterly ignorant of the facts in the case.
