    EXCHANGE.
The exchange column conies' into the sanc
tums of sister colleges, and asks a kindly consid
eration, modestly hoping soon to deserve and re-
ceive a welcome.
We ask of other colleges: May we not be
come one of your pleasant circle in .college jour
nalism, if we promise that we will make our ef
fort to be, at least, agreeable ? While we would
not assume the mien of mendicants, yqf. we do not
hesitate to acknowledge that, except we receive
your favor, we shall lack a desirable source of in
terest and much of the pleasure to be derived
from publishing our journal.
We feel sure that from your visits to our
sanctum we shall realize pleasure and profit, and
in return we hope at least to establish in you a
confidence in the honesty and determination of
our efforts.
We bid you be at liberty to exercise toward
our columns any friendly criticism, and we shall,
take pleasure in considering ourselves subject to
such criticism from you.
Pleading these sentiments at your hands, and
pledging ourselves to them, we freely come for
ward, and ask your patronage which we shall con
sider it an honor to receive.
ON THE TABLE.
The Lafayette comes to us fresh and invit
ing. The composition of this journal is varied,
and it attains to a high standard in all its depart
ments. Its editorial staff is putting forth success
ful efforts to make it the exponent of the popu
lar institution whence it comes.
We take pleasure in welcoming to our ex
change table the Dickinson Liberal. The IJberal
compares favorably with any of our exchanges.
Its editorials always contend for wholesome is
sues, and Ls literary articles evince much com
mendable painstaking.
