The Union Republican voter3 of Cambria
county are hereby requested to meet at tbe
usual placc3 for holding the elections in
their respective wards and districts on SAT
URDAY, the 2Ut day AUGUST, and between
the hour of I o'clock, and 7. o'clock, p. m.,
elect two delegates for each election district
to represent them in a County Convention to
be held on Tuesday, the 24th day of August,
at the Court House, in Ebensburg, at 2 o'
clock, p. m., for the purpose of taking such
action in the coming election as the inter
ests of the party and the good of our coun

Organize Work.
The campaign has opened in Pennsyl
vania. The two great political parties who
ko often have met in conflict before are
again arrayed agaist each other, and, un
der leaders of acknowledged strength and
Kwcr, arc marshaling for the great strug
gle of supremacy at the ballot box. while
we have never felt more sanguine of a con
test resulting, in a republican triumph,
still it is eminently unwise that we should
build upon our own strength and with
fiTrn MdctT calmly await victory, making
no effort to secure It beyond a doubt. The
enemy has been whipped unmercifully
time and time again, but each political
castigation. at the polls only made
them more eager and more determined to
triumph, and up they come in each canvass
as sjolid and resolute as though they
had never felt the shock of a rcversa.
Possibly, the Democratic party is to-day
as well organized and as well prepared for
the struggle as they ever were, and will
conduct the canvass with a wicked energy
born from the fresh recollections of the
many disasters and defeats they have of
lite suffered. On their part victory is es
teemed to highly and as a result so desira
ble that nothing honest or dishonest will
be loft undone to help on their cause.
