This Safe, containing all my books, together with valuable papers belon-iiif to myself and some to my neighbors and friends, and representing a value of over Twenty Thou sand Dollars, (SHO.OOO) was in my Mill which was destroyed on the night of the 27th of Ju ly, 1800( and passed through the fiery ordeal -unscathed. The Safe was on the second flonr and fell to the basement of the Mill, and waj subjected for six hours to an intense hen among the rui.is, which was greatly increased by the combustion of a large quantity of grain confined within ths brick walls.
