Mr. TV", is a good feliabla business man, and we take Ira ia recommending Lica to the age of the public iovixo. Some time since, a Blair J man wrote and published to the Oil ! -Though there is a decided lull in the oil market juat at the present time, in those regions where oil is a staple prc duction, it yet appears that some excite ment is likely to be kicked up here even here in connection with the gTeasy com pound. A company has been formed to bore for oil upon ground belonging to Mr. Shuater, 2 miles north of town, and an engine and the other apparatus necessary to the work have been purchased. Work will be commenced forthwith, and the in tention is to bore one thousand feet before abandoning the enterprise. The indica tions of oil at and around the spot fixed upon for the well are said to be excellent. A greasy substance, with the taste and smell of petroleum, aud pronounced by experienced chemists to be that very arti cle, is alwaya to be found floating on the water in that locality, while the geological formation of the earth is said to be exactly similar to that of the great oil basins. The company are very saagnine of "stri king ile" at no great depth, and we hope their fondest anticipations may be more than realized. Base Ball On Saturday afternoon last, the first nine of the Junior Moun taineers, of this place, went to Summit to play a match game with the Monitors of the latter place.
