I am, sir, Very respectfully, yours, Wji. G. Moore, $500 enclosed. Assistant Adj. Gen. Gen. Geary's letter donating 200 was as follows : Jouxstowx, Pa., P ept. 15, I860. D. J. Morrell, Esq. My Dear Sir: While on my way from Pittsburg to llarrisburg this morning, I was shocked and grieved at the intelligfrnce of tho terrible accident of yes terday. I find among the killed and woun ded many of my personal friends and neigh bors, and I beg. that you will extend to the latter and to the relations o the former my heartfelt sympathies. I enclose my draft for two hundred dollirs, which I respectfully ask that you will distribute among the sufferers as you may deem proper. Very truly, your friend, . Jno. W. Geart. The only Ebensburger injured was Col. E. F. Lytle. He had three ribs broken, and was otherwise badly hurt. Ex Sheriff Buck, of Cafrolltown, tas slightly injured. Since the foregoing letter came to hand, we hear that Mrs. Downey and Miss Mollio Quinn, two of the injured, have died. The Turf. On Friday last, a race for 100 a 6ide, half mile hsafs, best two in three, came off between the celebrated Ream running mare of Johnstown and a running horse from the north of the county, owned by Dick Evans. The ground selected for the race Was a section of the Loretto road, one and a half miles east of Ebensburg. It wa moderately well suited for the purpose in view, though soft and muddy owing to late rains. A large crowd of ppectators, estimated at five hundred, were present, and betting was lively. First heal. The betting was 100 to 80 on the horse at the start. The mare tock :he lead at the word go, and retained it throughout. On the home-stretch, she was ten lengths ahead, but the horse put himself down to his work and cut down the distance one-half, the mare passing the pole and winning by about five lengths. Second he it. Even betting. The horse led off, and, as though the first heat had only served the purpose of warming up bis blood, continued to increase the gjp between them until he reached home. He came in six or eight lengths ahead, looking fresh and vigorous, while the mare gave unmistakable indications of tevere punishment. Third heat. This was a repetition of the second, the iorse takiug the lead from the jump and coming homo with ease about twelve lengths ahead, and so win ning the race. Though the purse ran for was only 100, a much larger sum of .money chan ged hands. Scarcely less than 1,000 was at stake on the result of the race. " My Policy." Mr. Edward J. Milla has been appointed Postmaster of Ebens burg, vice Maj. John Thompson, removed. The latter supports the reconstruction policy of Congress the former, that of tho President. Hence the change. Maj. With corrupt or tainted blood, you are sick all over. It' maj burst out In Pimples, or Sores.' or In some active disease, or it may merelv keen vou listless. depreased,. and good for nothing. But you cannot have goad health while your blood is impure. Oyer's Sar3flparilla purges out these impurities ; it expels disease and restores health and stimulates the organs of life into vigorous action. Hence it rapidly cures a variety , of complaints which are caused bv imparity of the blood, such as Scrofula, or King's Evil, Tumois, Ulcers, Sores, Erup tions, Pimples, Blotches, Boils, St. Anthony's Fire, Rose or Erysipelas, Tetter or Salt Rheum, Scald Head, Ring Worm. Cancer or Cancerous Tumors, Sore Eyes, Female Dis eases, such as Retention, Irregulmty, Sup pression, Whites, Sterility, also Syphilis or Venereal Diseases, Liver Complaints, and Heart Diseases. Try Ayer's Sarsaparilla, and see for yourself the surprising activity with which it cleanses the blood and cures these disorders. During late years, the public have been misled by large bottles, pretending to give a quart of Extract of Sarsaparilla for one dol lar. Most of these have been frauda unon the sick, for they not only contain little, if any,. Sarsaparilla, but often no curative in gredient whatever. Hence, bitter disappoint ment has followed the use of the various ex tracts of Sarsaparilla which flood the market until the name itself has become synonymous with imposition and cheat. Still we call this compound ''Sarsaparilla," and intend to sup ply such a'remedy as shall rescue the name from' the load of obloquy which rests upon it. We think we have ground for believing it has virtues which are irresistible by the class of diseases it is intended to cure. We can as sure the sick that we offer thera the best al terative we know how to produce, and we have reason to believe it is by far the most effectual purifier of the blood yet discovered. Ayer's Cherry Pectoral is so universally known to surpass every other medicine for the cure of Cough3, Colds, Influenza. Hoarse ness. Croup, Bronchitis, Incipient Consump tion, and for the relief of Consumptive Pa tients in advanced stages of the disease, that it is useless here to recount the evidence of its virtues. The world knows them. EgU Prepared by Dr. J. C. Ayer 4 Co., Lowell, Mas3., and sold by R; J. LLOYD, Eb ensburg, WM. BERLIN, Johnstown, and deal ers generally. sepl5-2m HE' LADY OCULIST. Miss LAURA LE SUER, whose sue cessful practice has been well known in Pittsburg and vicinity for the last seven years, has now taken rooms at the residence of Mrs. Stahl, High St., Ebensburg, Cambria county, Pa., where she proposes spending the summer for the purpose of treating DISEASES OF THE EYES. The System is a cautious and safe one has never been known to fail in subduing In flammation of the Eyes, either Acute or Chronic will remove extraneous substances from the eyeballs, cure granulated eyelids, so lbat the eyelashes, instead of growing like bristles down upon the eyeballs and thereby eventually destroying the sight, will assume a correct position become soft and natural ; will strengthen and restore weak eyes of long standing nil without the use of the Knife, Lunar Caustic, Blue Stone, or any of those severe remedies so frequently applied, to the destruction of the eyes. Miss LE SEUR also treats successfully RHEUMATISM and NERVOUS DISEASES, two of the most lingering and painful dis eases to which mortals are subject, and from which proceed some of the most fearful dis eases, of the eyes. But as diseases are not cured on paper and deeds are much more satisfactory than words, she would therefore respectfully call the attention of an intelli gent community to her practice, and most cordially invite the afflicted to come and test the effect of the treatment for themselves, as suring those whoe cases are curable that ir they put themselves under her treatment and follow strictly the directions given, they will certainlr be rewarded with 11 HEALTH AND SIGHT. These are facts, and facts are said to be stubborn things. REFERENCES ! Rev. A. Baker, Tastor M. E. Church, Eb ensburg. Pa. Rev. E. B. Snyder, Pastor Christ's True Church, PiUsburg. Rev. J. A.
