Johnstown, .4 ugp. 7, 1866.
' The puddling furnaces at the mill,
sime thirty in number, are dow all ran
uing, single turn, with prospects of an
early commencement of second turn,
which will give the mill once more its
full strength. Many of the old puddlers
engaged in the strike have gone elsewhere
to seek employment, while some have
yielded and gone back to work. We un
derstand the pay they receive is SG.90, or
within 10 ceuts of that demanded by the
strikers.
A colored man, name unknown, was
killed on the Pennsylvania Kailroad, a
short distance west of this, on Saturday.
He was walking along the track, and be
ing observed by the engineer of a western
bound train, the usual signal was given,
and an effort made to check up the train,
but the man was struck by the cowcatch
er and fatally injured.
While a four-horse team was being
driven carelessly along Clinton street, one
day last week, a little girl was knocked
down by the horses in the lead, qnd es
caped being killed only by the voluntary
stopping of the horses at the tongue ot the
wagon. She escaped with some slight
bruies.
On Sunday evening quite an excitement
was created by the arrest of a young man
who, partly under the influence of liquor,
was acting in a most unfllial aud abusive
manner towards his father. He was quite
desperate in his attempts at resisting the
officers called upcu to arrest hi:n, but was
finally hauled to the "stone mansion" in a
wagon and safely lodged for, the night.
Mayor Cox will dispose of his case to day.
Weather pleasant, aud town quite

Pills, and drive away the humors purify the
blood, and let the fluids move on uuobstruc

of the body into vigorous activity, purify the
system from the obstructions which make
disease. A cold settles somewhere in the
body, and deranges the natural operations of
that part. This, if not relieved, will react
upon itself and the surrounding organs, pro
ducing general aggravation, suffering and de
rangement. "While in this condition, take
Ayer's Pills, and see how directly thev restore
the natural action of the system, and with it
the buoyant feeling of health. What is true
and so apparent in this trivial and common
complaint is also true in many of hc deep
seated and dangerous diseases. The same
purgative expels them. Caused by similar
obstructions and derangements, they are
surely, and many of them rapidly, cured by
the same means. None who knows the vir
tue of these Pills will neglect to employ them
when suffering from the disorders they cure,
such as Headache, Foul Stomach, Dysentery,
Bilious Complaints, Indigestion, Derange
ment of the Liver, Costiveness, Constipation,
Heartburn, Rheumatism, Dropsy, Worms, and
Siu.pression. when taken in large doses.
They are sugar coated, so that the most
sensitive can take them easily, and they are
surely the best purgative medicine yet dis

This remedy has raroly failed to cure the
severest cases of Chills and Fever, and it has
this great advantage over other Ague medi
cines thai it subdues the complaint without
injury to the patient. It contains no quinine
or other deleterious substance, nor doe3 it
produce quinism or any injurious effect what
ever. Shaking brothers of the army and of
