Our Johnstown Letter. Johnstown, Feb: 12, 1866. Dear Alleg. : Mr. Jelley, of this place, was indulging himself in the luxury of a sleigh-ride oneevening last wee's. While stopping for a moment in the Rolling Mill House, some enterprising individual took the horse and 6leigh from the front of the house and went off with them.' The next morning, the horse wa9 found on one side of the railroad track, and the sleigh on the other. No clue to the perpetrator of this pieco of bold villainy has yet been found. Bkclah, Feb. 12, 18C6. To the Editor of The Alleghanlnn : I sftw by your paper of last week, that the Union County Committee of Cambria county was called to meet at the Court House, Ebens burg. on Saturday, lOth.instant, to nominate a Representative Delegate to the State Con vention Ac, 4c. Being a etrong Union man myself, I conclu ded to hitch up my sled and go to town, to see what was done, &c, kc. Arrived In town, I went straightway to the Court House, at which place the Committee was called tomeet. To. my surprise, I found the Court House tenantless and alone. A bystander told me that no member having been found who was willing of himself to kindle a fire in the Court-room, the Commit tee had concluded to convene in the parlor of the 44 Mountain House," where a fire was al ready burning, &c, &c. I at once repaired to the "Mountain House," rejoiced at the possibility of my be iDg able to come in at or near the death, &c, &c. But I was disappointed. At the " Moun tain nousc," I was informed that, owing to the pressing exigencies of tbe situation, it had been thought expedient, to the end of al lowing no possible disturbance of the peace and haimony of the conclave 1 through the interference of " outsiders," that the door of the parlor should close only behind mem bers of the Committee. Ia other words no admittance if you ain't & Committee-man, Sec, &c. So I was out again. I re-entered my sled, and returned home, a sadder aian, a wiser man, and not so strong a Union man as I was before. I have since learned that the Committee instructed the delegate to the State Conven tion to vote for Horry Whito tor tiovernor. I am glad to hear this, for I am a White man. Still, how the Committee was able to know that White was my choice, and John Doe's choice, and Richard Smith's choice, and the choice of all of us, or the majority of us, is more than I can "fathom, and 60-forth. No more at present, but remain, Yours, " Ski Hi. m m m A Bank in Tows. We are informed that Messrs.
