A stranger who so journed a few weeks in our midst last immmcr, iu quest of health and happiness, lias been writing the result of hia obser vations here and hereabout to the Pitts- bi'.rg Lanier. His description of Ebens- l uix and citizens is umquo : .This town is beautifully located on the ,rt5t ot ibe Alleghanics, and it appears to be ft model one in its way. Politics, law, and religion seem to be the only industrial pur Miiii of the litizcns, for in all candor, the alienee of any manual labor is one of the iuo't striking characteristics of the place. KnJ yet, contrary to the generally accepted theor'v thnt idleness begct3 vice, this place i without exception, the most moral, aud iwtf quiet town (of similar population) in the State. People 'do not think of turning the Si;or lock when they retire, nor are they particu- rI Wrly watchful of valuables, for they can boast 1 1 of uo burglars or thieves, and sill the crime committed here lias been the. work or stran gers to the town. The inhabitants are kind, j.M.ible, and very intelligent."
