railroad, and went to Streeter saying :
"Here's your money," paying him three
dollars.
"Where's my horse ?" says Streeter.
"He is at Salem," says the client. "1
only hired him to go to Salem !"
Streeter, who was known as a practical
joker, acknowledged the grain and paid
the penalty.
I The owner of a boat on the Niag
ara river tied up hi3 vessel along Bhore
with a hay rope. A bull belonging to his
neighbor, jumped aboard the boat, and
proceeded to satisty his appetite from the
hay. Eating off the rope, bull and boat
went adrift. Being captain and all hand3,
and a poor sailor at that, he was unable to
manage the lubberly craft, and away they
went pell mell, down the rapids and over
the falls. The owner of the bull brings
suit against the owner of the boat for
carrying off his bull, and the owner of the
boat brings suit against the owner of the
bull for carrying off . his boat!

brother for ? Now I shall have to whip
you. Don't you remember, the golden
rule I taught you? If you wouldn't like
to have your brother bite you, you shouldn't
bite your brother." ';
