Robert & Co., this place, was Iturglariously entered by I some villain, and two silver watches car ried off. Subsequent to that time M r. Roberts departed for the frontier of tbc State, as a soldier, leaving the establish ment locked up. Upon his return, during the present week, he found that an attempt had been made to force another entrance into the store, the window giving unmis takable evidence of having been tampered with. Fortunately, however, the strength of the fastenings was such as to reswt all attempts at entrance, and the burglar had only his labor for his pains. Our conclu sions in the premises are these: First, be that would steal at all is a villain ; second, he that would steal, or attempt to steal, fom a man who had nobly responded to the dictates of duty, is a doubly-distilled, despicable villain ; and, third, that such an individual should be hanged by the eyelashes to the nearest sign-poat, with out benefit of judge, jury or clergy.
