Good News for the Ladies. Leap
Year 13 gone, that' a fact. Gone for
four years, and lota of girls didu't make
the connection during its reign. Girls
who, four years henco, will have become
fossilized aud auntyquated to the last de
gree, and whose wonderful checks and
pouting lips will be metamorphosed into
the commonest kind of commonplace af
fairs, failed to husband the time properly.
Gone, we say, fur some three years ulJ
cloven m'ouths.
Sad that thus the moments fleeting hear
our cherished hopes away, etc. But
Time and t: le wait for no man,
Neither will they far a wo nan.
Sad. But not so sad in this ease either.
For ;iils, maidens, young ladies, spin
sters, old maids, aud the universal feme-
nine kit aud caboodle, fiom fourteen years
of old upwards, are wanted. Also, school
maims.
A correspondent, writinir from Oregon
to a Pennsylvania paper, saj-s :
Hero, by the time a girl is fourteen she is
snapped in marriage, ami yet, in this region
are living main bachelor farmers who would
gladly murry if there w ere v. omen here. Gov
ernor Slade, of eimoiit. sent us out a cargo
of schoolmanns. who were each to pay a line
of live hundred dollars if they married before
the expiration of a year. Most of the girls
paid the line. Oregon and Washington still
need schoolmarins. I have uj doubt this
country would prove a paradise io spinsters,
if they come We') recommended.
