Milch Cows. Ihirinz tho hot weather
of August ani SepVniber, cott-3, unless la
vpry extra pa?tare, itb a pknty of shade
and good water, fail very much in their pro
ductiveness. ; TYhcn once partially dried up
it ia hard to bring them into a full fltnr of
imlkamin daring tbo season. The greatest
care should therefore he taken to rive them
a plenty of some kind of nutritious soil-feed,
corn, oat3 or whatever other kind of green
t food a farmer may happen tohave ; feed they
must have. If cows arc obliged to work
' hard all day, in a short pasture, durug hot
weather, to obtain barely nougb to keep
them alive, they will become both too much
heated and fatigued to keep np a full flow of
milk, and whoever expects any profit from
cows in hot weather must feed them enough,
bo that aa tho heat of tho day advances they
may retire to the shade, for comfort and re
pose. . . .

- Good Culture. In farming, like all
other branches of business, success depend
upon many points, none of which it is safe
to neglect, but the chief of these is the care

the surface only need3 stirring, for if we plow
