Another vilful and malicious false
hood. The Rej'vLlican in commenting on
the Soldiers' Comention held in this place,
on Saturday the 2Sth of July, Fay3:
"The Convention adjourned to some of
the up town saloons and bar-rooms where
their democracy became so spirited that they
wound up in expounding it by poundins
each others head's ! Of course these were
ail f jx- Clymes and Johnson !"'
Th'3 above is a wilful and intended false
hood. ' The writer of the article knew as
well as every body else, who paw the fracn?,
that it was not Democrats who raised the
row. We admit that there was some '.'head
pounding" after the Convention adjourned,
and it was occasioned by some Abolitionists
who have heretofore considered themselves
bullies, and who followed a few of our Dem
ocratic soldiers up "town to a saloon, where
they had their friends in force, to raise a
quarrel, by jesif-ting that Xnemv Htts better
or as good as a white man, which was more
than our-Democratic-- boys were wiping to
admit. dTence the fight, the beatrfj'of which
was that the. Abolitionists got woftiily whip
ped, and one only escaped death by the
timely intervention, of. some pcace-uiakipg
Democrats. -This, Mr. Republican, your
political friends who were engaged in the
matter admit, and for you to say that "all
those encaged in the fuss -were for Ctymer
and Johnson, is a b vs.e falsehood. We hid
intended to say nothing in reference to the
affair, inasmuch as no good could come from
it, and should not, had the truth been to;d
by the Republican. We had room and rea
son, to boast of the bravery and i-kill of our
friends, and could have done fo truthfully,
in cur last Lsue, had it not been that we
would rather conciliate than irritate. But
we are determined that falsehood shall not
go unreouked. . .

JpirORTANT TO FARMERS.
GRRAT I VI PROVEN EN PIN
HAND FANNING MILLS.
TH K patentee, Mr.GEOROE LEA'!!, after twelve
years of experiuienTinz in the construction tit f.ns
and prain cleaners, ha at length perfected a very
simplf Cetire by which firm, rs can arrive at any
perfection ill the scloctn.g of all kinds of grain fur
seed
I claim for this machine that it does away with all
counter currents, and cives an even uniform blast,
testing tne r.iin by wciiint and not by size.
The eonviction is now well grounded in th- mind
of the be-t scieutitic men of the country, that the
marked depreciation of the grain crops for years
back, is owing to the degeneration of the seed sown,
and n. l to the poverty of the soil, anil it is also the
opinion of many that the wcavil and other destroy
ing insects, yo destructive to the crops, are Produces'
aud mator-il within the. kernels, thus rendered 'mlit
cr than the i.ther.i. so that they are by this machine
entirely removed.
This improvement may b- attached toany ordinary
farming mill. It can chaff much faster and clean
-rain for market more peifectly than any machine
extant It enables the farmer to select froiri his mer
chant grain, the soundest and healthiest berries lor
seed.
y this means also, all grns ecds may be broiijht
to the same perfection fr founit, as the bin of
grains. t GEOKGE LtiACII.
