"nm the grave. The following lines, by Mrs.
II ah, upon the tubject, are appropriate : Eo.
A morning light on at or my aeaa,
As etam through clouds of night,
So give her banner to the breete,
And spread her canvaii white,
And fair will be tbe akic above,
And i moot h the aeaa below,
While with her armament of rove,
She anil to meet the foe.
On ! on ! they atretch the pleading hand,
From Erin'a blasted shore;
Gaunt Famine and his vampire band,
There press the battle sore;
On, like a warrior meet the foe,
And stay the deadly strife ;
And like heaven's messenger, bestow
The bread of human life.
Oh! never 'mid a scene of blood
Such glorious deed was done ;
Not when Decatur conqueror stood,
The Macedonian won
At now, when freighted forth the goet,
A food-ship on the tea ;
Bearing to those who then were foes,
The free gifts of the Free.
The golden fleece the Argo bore,
When sweeping proudly home;
But laden with a richer store
Our noble thip will come ;
And blessings breathed from broken heart!
To hope restored again,
As Winter's death-cold ice depart
Beneath Spring' gentle rain.
Then give her banner to the breeze,
Like stara through clouds of night ;
And like tbe morn on stormy aeat
Uiifurl her canvas white.
Swelled by gUd thought, like air from beav'n,
That we in fulness live,
And from the bounties God bath given,
We have tbe means to give.
