Daring Attempt to Roto Hie I S. Mull.
Thia i.iorning, about 3 o'clock, and about four
miles west of the Schuylkill Perm mant Bridge, the
Jiivcr of a two horse coach, carrying the Lancaster
way mail, was aotpi od by two men armed. After
blowing out the light in his coach, one of them
threatened his life by presenting pistol at him,
while the otl.er proceeded to take out the mail bag.
After accuring it they lift him and went eff toward
this city. Tho driver, who is a lad, immediately
returned to the city. During this morning the mail
bag wjs found a mile o.ist of the spot where the
coach was stopped, unowned. Its being umifled
of its contents, may be attributed to the rubbers
having been nlarme.l, on the discovery by tlicm that
it wis a small and unimportant mail, and not worth
the trouble of opening. It certanly was a daring
attemi t, eo near the city, and on Siturday morning
too, when the road is s much travelled by peigjn
coming to market. Philttd. Gazette.
