I t he ErenfrOtarcourtcously furnishes the
following information in advance of ita pub
lication : ,
Telegrams were received herd last evening
from Knokville, 4 Tenp., • dated yesterday'
morning, which stated that Gen. Foster had
assumed command of the troops lately under
Burnside, and the latter had departed from
that city, probably for Cincinnati. All was
then quiet in the vicinity of Knoxville,
It was stated there, on the 'authority of
scouts and messengers, that much of Long ;
street's.' artillery and trains had fallen into
_the hands of our pursuing forces, but these
accounts- lucked confirmation. The region,
in which the pursuit is now being made is so'
far distant from the telegraph stations as to
make- it difficult to verify such statements as
promptly as is desirable.
