Rafting. Rain commenced falling in
this region ou Thursday evening last, anil
cuntiued to fill at intervals during Friday,
causing a iair rafting flood in the river. A
goodly number of rafts passed this place on
Saturday and Sunday, which, we hope, will
reach their destination in safety. A large
portion of the rafts are still back, and it is
rather doubtful if they will reach a market
this season.
To be Bcilt. We notice that the Ben
nett's. Branch of the Allegheny Valley Rail
road, 'J'2 miles east from Redbank station. is
to be put under contract shortly. This road
will pass through the western part of Clear
field county, thus opening a new outlet fur
much valuable timber that is now almost
iuaeeesable to a market. Oar friends in
thai section of the county have cause fur
congratulation over tbeir prospect of rail
road communication "with the outer world"
by the completion: of the Bennett's Brunch
