The PiLoaiM. This name has been giv
en to a moral and religious Exhibition,
founded upon Pilgrim's Progress. It consists
ef a pleasing display, under various colored
Jig-hts. and with modern .-'.-ente effects, of
54 paintings, which in size arc the largest,
and iu representation the best specimens of
Art now before the pub'ie. They are till
original and by te most celebrated artists.
In no .part of l hs wofid is their equal to be
seen. The exhibition of Painting is accom
panied by asuitnble and impressive Lecture,
interspersed with appropriate songs and
music, and closes with agpin of scenic art
a beautiful and allegorical representation of
Djath and Heaven.
After some 25 or 30 exhibitions of the
ilsrim in Boston, an aTlrelc appeared in
th(j Uotttn jonrtl(1ft by its art and dramatic
critic, from which we select the following :
The Pilgrim is one of the most brilli.intjy
successful Exhibitions eveT brought forward
in Boston. It is drawing larjre houses at
the most capacious hall (Tremont Temple)
in this city, and frequently hundreds arc
turned away from the doors, unable to gam
admission. The immense success is well
merited, for the Painting are not only ex-c-'edinely
beautiful, buithe Lecture by Pro .
I?;iiu is earnest and eloquent, while the mu
sic (vocal and instrumental )is of itself worth
the price of admission. The whole enter
tainment is instructive, and morally benefi
cial. The "Pilgrim" will be exhibited at -the
Court Hoh.su, in Clearfield, cm Wednesday
and Thursday evenings, February 22d and
23d. Admission 35 cents ; Children 25 cts.
Reserved seats, 50 cents.
MrsiCAL. Among the thousand and one
Pianos offered to the public, we scarcely
know any instrument so fully uniting all the
desirable qualiiies sought for as the Kr.abc
Piano. It is a matter of some difficulty and
perplexity to iucxperieneed persons to select
a good instrument of any capacity. We too
often rely upon the judgment of friends in
the selection of a piano, anw are thus fre
quently disappointed. The only ture way,
in our opinion, is to gJ to the test maker.
For this reason, we reco.uiuend to our read
ers to purehese Pianos ot William Knabe
& Co's manufacture. This will relieve them
the vexatious necessity of wasting time in a
lor g search. The reputation of ths Knabe
Piinos is an infallible guaranty of excellence.
In the houses of the most accomplished and
wealf hr of our citizens, and in our best sem
inaries and colleges, these magnificent in
struments may be found. Nor is this any
wonder, for in purity, depth and constancy
of tone, they are unsurpassed. Their gra
dation of scale ia so exquisitely, and, at the
same time, comprehensively attuned, that
they are capable of expressing every emo
tion of the human hettrt and soal. Their
tone.is exquisitely pure and unique, and so
even, sweet and sympathetic that it inspires
all who listen to it, while at the same time
the action is perfectly free, and the keys re
sound to the touch with such sensitiveness
and intelligence, so to sp'-ak, as to make one
almost think that the miidf:the tnanufac
urer linger 1 1 his work. "?:
