Kfxigiocs. -TheRt- Rev. J. C Kerfoot,
Bishop of Pittsburgh, will preach in St.

Appears The Auditor' report of the
financial condition of the county, this week.
The balance in the Treasury is something
over twelve thousand dollars a very snug
little sum.
Injured. We understand that a little
Fen of Mr. I. L. Reizenstein, of this place,
fell down, cue evening last week, and
tsprained one of his wrists very severely.
Boys thould he careful when they staud on
slippery" places.
Just So! A pent called on a couple of
young ladies, one evening recently, when
one of theui iuquired : "Why don't you at
tend the protracted meetings, these eve
nings?" Whereupon, the second hastily
remarked, "I suppose he would rather
come here to hold we-eting." Ahem !
Water Works. We understand that a
bill has been pre.-ented to the Legislature,
t.j incorporate a "Water Company" in this
place. We hope the bill will pass, and that
preparations will be made early in the
Spring for the erection of the works. A
supply of good and wholesome water is
much needed here.
Another Slice. We see that a bill has
passed the House, at Harrisburg, cutting
another slice off Clearfield county and an
ccxinjr it to Klk. The slice embraces war
rants Xos. 4,275, 4,2X), 4'lf2. 4,188, 4,1S1,
and part of 4,271, being that portion of Fox
t.wnbip annexed to Huston township, when
Vox was sliced up, several years ago.
Whether this cutting pieces off Clearfield
county is in accordance with tht wishes of
her citizens, we are unable to say, but it is
well enough that they fchould know the fact,
to that they may govern themselves ac
cord i ugly.
Postponed. Wc would announce that

I'rui.erly appreciate the efforts of Prof.
