to the public grounds. But, what was
due ? We pre-utne nothing. These grounds
laic been uuder control of private parties

the pockets of those who had charge of
them. Let the Borough officers now try
fhat they can do. If these ground, can
not be beautified in such a manner as to be
t credit to our town, theu tear down the
fences and let the public have the use of
them, imtead of prirate parties. This is

last. Thjy are both very, jovial and socia
ble men. Lous may they t-urvive their trip
to Clearfield.
Nlw Bell. The Presbyterian congrega
ticn jiut up their new bell on Thursday
last. It is lanre and Suo touod, and will be
a groat convenience to church goers calling
them together at the proper time, so that
the .-peakerand hearers may not be disturb
ed by tli8 late arnva! of the drones.
Extensive Fire at Osceola. On Sat
urday uight last, a fire broke out in the ex
teusive lumbering establishment of the Mo
id.aunon Laud and Lumber Company, in
Osci-oln, this county. The mills, together
with from ten to twelve millions feet of lum
ber, three dwelling houses in the vicinity,
and the freight depot, trestle work and por
tion of the railroad tiack, were consumed.
