In Penn township, on Sunday, April 24,
1870, Mrs. Diana Moobe, relict of Kobert
Moore, deceased, formerly of Centic county,
aged 7i years.
At his lesidenec in Penn township, on
Friday, April Stli, 1S70, Wm. . PoKTER,
aged 54 years and 2 months.-
Obitcary. Frank G Irw in wasborn
in Bellefonte, Centre co , Pa., September
14, 1852. He was wounded at S o'clock a. m.
March 51st, and died just 30 hours after
lie supposed the Indians were friendly umil
they fireii upon him at 20 or 30 paces ; the
first shot struck him in the right shoulder
and he fell. Two more shots were fired but
did not hit him. They then advanced to
him, al out eight in number, stripped him,
kicked and tramped on him, then tired three
arrows into his body, two in his chest and
one in his left arm, and then started after
some other victim j, two of whom they met
and servidiu like manner. Frank then
walked about halt a mile towards town, when
he was seen by a Mr. Ward who carritd
him into town. The bullet and arrows
were carefully and skillfully extracted bv Dr.
Uarri-on. and a!i that love and humanity
could do lo rcbeve his intense suffering wa
avi.-hiy bestowed as you may suppose.
Nothing short of the power of God could
make a man, let alone a child, forget the
throes of physical anguish he suffered. Yet
he told his parents that it was nothing then
looking up. smi ed he said he was gointe to
see the face of his Father in Heaven His
temperament was s even that noshing
seemed to ruffle him. Kind to everybody,
and every brute that came in his way. But
e-peciaily did his parents and si.-ter feel and
enjoy these estiniable traits in his character.
