The Commissioners ot this county have
done a good thing. For several months the

Sloners, who, on iuesday last, awarded the I
contract to Mr. Wui. II. Miller he being
the lowest bidder, viz: Seventy-four thous
and dollars. The sureties in the bond are
Judge Barrett, Dr. T. J. Boyer, Richard
Mossop, Samuel Wideiuire and George N.
Colburn, Esq's, who are severally held and
firmly bound for the faithful iierformance of
the contract, according lo the plans, speci
fications, etc., of Mr. Ilavelaud, the archi
tect and builder.
We emmot lorbear. in connection, from
according to the Commissioners due praise
for the very superior judgment manifested
by them in giving this contract to a man so
worthy, so competent, and so honoral le as
Mr. Miller. While it iur-urcs a positive
performance of the terms of the contract, it
alo insures the tax payers of the county

The record that Mr. Miller his asa builder,
both on the public works of ihc State and
in private cuterpiises. -damps .him as just
the man for an intelligent board of Com
missioners, having a due regard for the wel
