Indiana Cocntv. The Messenger says:
On Saturday, the 29th ult., Mr. Patrick
McCu Hough met his death in the following
manner: He was engaged as sawyer at the
Ml 1? A ai rrt
nun oi vnnurcc inorn, located at 1'inc
FJat, Green tp., and while walking near the
saw, he stumbled and fell upon it, splitting
his arm froni the fingers to the shoulder.
Medical attendance was procured as soon as
possible, but, nothing could be done to save
him, and he died. The deceased was mar
ried less than one year ago, and his your.g
wife is disconsolate at her sudden bereave
ment. She has our heartfelt sympathy.
A Mathematical Curiosity. We we
it stated tliat lands along the Council Bluff
Railroad which last year sold for five dol
lars per acre are this year worth fifteen dol
lars per acre, and are still on the rise. We
don't wonder a bit. Indeed this is but one
example under a rule as invariable as the
old rule of three. The wonder would be if
it failed. The rule may be thus stated :
Any person owning land far from a rail
roid can tcrU afford to give its whole present
value in order to get a railroad to run with
in a mile or two of it. The rule is as good
here as in Iowa as good with lands of high
value as with those of low. The business
men and capitalists, as well as farmers, of
this county should bear these important
facts iu mind.
Goto Farming. A good living is what
comparatively few men succeed in making
in village or cily life, and yet nothing is
more easy of accomplishment on the farm.
Besides there is a pleasure in cultivating and
embelisbing the earth, improving and in
creasing its products, and thus adding to
the aggregate of human happiness. Why,
then, should young men hesitate to be farm
ers? It is both proG table and honorable.
It is the nercst approximation to independ
ence that a man, as a member of society,
can make. A gentleman farmer and all
farmers are, or should be, gentlemen be
long to an order of nobility that is not in
debted to place holders for insrallation, and
may, if he chooses, be ranked among the
greatest benefactors of the human race.
Let the idle young men go to work on farms,
and quit seeking third and fourth rate
e'ei kship'. In short, go to farming and Quit
begging.

It is the vital principle of the Pine Tree, ob

are retained.
It Is the only safeguard and reliable remedy
wnico naseveroeen prepared irom ma juice of
the Pine Tree
It invigorates the digestive organs and restores
. It strengthens the debilitated system.
It purines and enriches the blood, and expels
from the system the corruption which scrofula
oreeas on me lungs.
It d iso Ives the mucus or phlegm which stops
the air-passages of the lungs. . .
Its healing principle acts upon the irritated
surface of the lungs and throat, penetrating to
each diseased part, relieving pain and subduing
mnammaiion
It is the result ofJvears of study and experiment.
and it is offered to the afflicted, with the positive
assurance ot its power to cure toe following dis
eases, if the patient has not too long delayed a re-
1 ort to the means of cure :
Consumption of the Lonirs, Cough, Sore Throat
ana 1'reast, Bronchitis, uver Complaint. Blind
and needing Piles, Asthma, Whooping Cough

We are often asked why are not other remedies
in the market for Consumption, Coughs, Colds
and other Pulmonary affections equal to Dr. L.
tj. Wishart s l ine Tree Cordial. M e nnswer
1st. It cures, not by stopping congh. but by
loosening and assisting nature to throw off the
unhealthy matter collected about the throat and
bronchial tubes, caustnz irritation and eouzh.
2d. Most Throat and Lung Remedies are com-
posed of anodynes, which allay the; cough for
awhile. but by their eonctringing effects.the fibres

are preferable, because they remove the cause of
irritation of the mncas membrane and bronchial
tubes, assist the lungs to act and throw off the un
healthy secretions, and purify the blood, thus
scientifically making the cure perfoct.

SPECIAL NOTICE.
SeiviK'fcs Pulmonic Synip,
Sceweed Tonic and M.indrake Pills. will cure Con
sumption, Liver Complaint and l'yspepsia, if ta
Ken according to directions. They are all three
to be taken at the same time. Thjy cleanse the
stomach, relax tbe liver, and put it to work ; then
tbe appetite becomes good, the food digests and
makes good blood, tbe patient begins to grow in
flesh the diseased matter ripens in the 1 ngs.and
the patient outgrows the disease and get well.
This is the only way to cure the consumption.
To these three medicines Dr. J. II. Schenck. of
Philadelphia, owes his unrivalled success in the
treatment of pulmonary consumption. The Pul
monic Syrup ripens the morbid matter in the
lungs, nature throws it on" by an easy expectora
tion, for wben the phlegm or matter is ripe, a
slight cough will throw it off, and the patient has
rest and the lungs begin to heal. To do this, the
Seaweed Tonic and Mandrake Pillmust be freely
useJ to cTfennse the stomach and liver, so that tbe
Pulmonio Syrup and the food will make good
blood.
Liver Complaint is one oC the most prominent
enures of Consumption. Schenck's Seaweed Ton
ic is a gentle stimulant and alterative, and the
alkali in the Seaweed, which this preparation is
made of, assists the stomnch to throw out the gas
trie juice to dissolve the food with tbe Pulmonic
Syrup, and it is made into good blood without fer
mentation or souring in the stomach. The great
reason why physicians do not cure consumption is
they try to do too much ; they give medicine to
stop the cough, to stop chills, to stop night sweats,
hectic fever, and by so doing they derango the
whole digestive powcrs.locking up the secretions
and eventually tbe patient sinks and dies.
Dr. Scbenck, in his treatment does not try to
stop a cough, night sweats chills or fever. Ke
raoe the enuse.and they will all stop of their own
accord No one can be cared of consumption, liv
er complaint, dyspepsia, catarrh, canker, ulcer
ated throat, unless the liver and stomach are made
healthy.
If a per.'on haseonsumption.of course the lungs
in some way are diseased, eitbnr tubercles, ab
scesses, bronchial irritation, pleura adhesion, or
the lungs are a mass of intUmation and fast de
caying. In such cases what must be done? It
is not only the lungs that are wasted, hut it is the
whole body. Tro stomach aud liver have lost
their power to make blood out of food. Now the
only chance is to take Schenck'a three medicines,
which will bring up a tine to tire stomach, the
patient will begin waul fod. it will digtst easily
and innke good blood ; then the patient begins to
gain in flesh, and u soon as tbe body begins to
grow, the lungs beg n to heal up. and the patient
gets flei-byand well. This is the only way to
cure consumption.
When there is no lung disease, and only liver
complaint and dyspepsia, Schenek's Seaweed
Tonioand Mandrake Pills are sufficient without
the Pulmonic Syrup. Take the Mandrake Pit Is
freely in all bilious complaints, as they are per
fectly harmless.
Dr. Pchencli. who has enjoyed uninterrupted
hoalth'for many years past, and now weicha 225
pounds, was wasted away to a mere skeleton, in
the very last stage of pulmonary consumption, his
physicians having pronounced his esse hopeless
anu aoanaonea nun to nig late, lie was cured
