Death of a Citizen. 3Ir, Adam C. Flan
lgan, well known to most of our people.died
on Wednesday 'evcuing last, of pulininary
consumption. He was a young man of good
habits, pleasant manners, and a kind heart.
He was engaged in the'mercantile business
until his health failed, and enjoyed the es
teem and respect of his fellow citizens
in an unusual degree. His afflicted mother
has the sympathies of a large circle of friends
in her bereavement. . . .
' Accident. On Wednesday last Mr.
. John. Miller, of Morrisdale, while working
' at a tram-way, was cut in the foot bo badly
that it had to be amputated. Another per
son was driving a stake with an axe, which
by some means glanced off and struck Mr.
Miller in the ankle joint. Dr J.'G. Harts
wick of this place, and Dr. Litz of Kylertown
being called in, found it necessary to ampu-
- tate tbelimb. Mr. Miller is doing a3 well
as could be expected. -
Bills. In accordance with our custom
for several years past, we this week send
bills to such of our patrons as are in arrears
for subscriptions, etc. - The approaching
May and Jane terms of Court will afford a
good opportunity to all to liquidate their in
debtedness to us, either by calling personal
ly or sending the amount of their bills by a
neighbor. Heretofore, most of our friends
have punctually responded to requests of
this kind, and we feel confident they will be
equally punctual now.
Tyrone Doctors. Three Doctors at
Tyrone publish a report of a post-mortem
examination, for the edification of the pub
He. It is a wonderful production. Tyrone
genius must have been.exhausted after such
an effort as this : ' ; "
"All the parts presented the most abnor
mal appearance. The great omentum was
entirely destroyed. The peritoneum invest
ing the intestines and parietes of the abdo
men was completely disorganized ; (Phew I )
but it was upon the viscera in the left side
of the abdomen, and especially the deeper
seated portions that gavNa (evidence of the
most destructive disorganization. Thejja
rietes mesentery, transverse descending,and
sigmoid flexure of colon, that lay contigu
ous to the gangrenous end of tumor were
entirely divested of peitoneum. . (Jehose
phatlj - The descending and aigmoid flex
ure of colon were completely impeded in
saniouit matter, and were evidently the first
points that passed into a state of gangrene,
(Shade of Hippocrates 1 ) The pedicle had
united promptly to the parietes of the ab
domen.'.' v .
Wonderful men are Tyrone Doctors. We
would advise theai,however,to study awhile
longer, and to pay some attention to gram-
. -mar as well as medicine. ,

TTOOFLAND'S GERMAN BITTERS,
X . AND
HOOFLAND'S GERMAN TONIC.
TBI GREAT REMEDIES
For all diseases of the Liver Stomach, or diges
tive organs.
Hoofland's (Jerman Bitters
Is composed of the pure juices (or, as they are
medicinally termed, extracts) of Roots, Herbs. and
Barks, making a prep aration, highly concen
trated, and entirely free from alcoholic ad
mixture of any kind.
HOOFLAND'S GERMAN TONIC,
Is a combination of all the ingredients of the Bit
ters, with the purest quality of Saiita Cruz Rum.
Orange. Ac , making one of the most pleasant and
agreeable remedies ever offered to the public
Those preferring a Medicine free from Alcohol
ic admixture, will use
HOOFLAND'S GERMAN BITTERS. :
Those who have no objection to the combination
of she Bitters, a? stated, will use
HOOFLAND'S GERMAN TONIC.
They are both equally good, and contain the
same medicinal virtues, the choice between the
two being a mere matter of taste, the Tonic being
the most palatable. . .
The stomach, from a variety of causes, such as
Indigestion, Dyspepsia, Nervous Debility, etc., is
very apt to have its functions deranged. The
Liver, sympathizing as closely as it does with
the Stomach, then be comes affeoted.the result
of which ia that the patient suffers from several
or more of the following diseases: !
Constipation, Flatulence, Inward Piles, Fulness '
of Blood to the Head. Aoidity of the Stomach,
Nausea, lleartburn, Disgust for Food, Fulness
or Weight in the Stomach, Sour Eructations,
Sinking or Fluttering at the Pitof the Stomach,
. Swimming of the Head, Hurried or Difficult
Breathing, Fluttering at the Heart. Choking or
Suffocating Sensations when in a Lying Posture,
Dimness of Vision. Dots or Webs before the Sight.
Dull Pain in the Head, Deficiency of Perspira
tion. Yellowness of the Skin and Eyes. Pain in
the Side, Back,Chest. Limbs, etc, Sudden flush
es of Heat, Burning in the Flesh, Constant im
aginings of Evil, and great depression of Spirits.
The sufferer from ;hese diseases should exercise
the greatest caution in the seleotion of a remedy
for his case, purchas:ng only that which he is as
sured from his inves ligations and inquiries
po8seses true merit, ' is skilfully compound
ed, is free from injurious ingredidents, and has
established for itself a reputation for the cure of
these diseases. In this eonnncetion we would
submit those well-known remedies
llooflattiVs German. Bitlsrs, and Hoofland's
German. Tonic, prepared by Dr. C. M.
Jacisou, Philadel phia. Pa.
Twenty-two years since they were first intro
duced into, this country from Germany, during
which time they have undoubtedly performed
more cures, and benefitted suffering humanity to
a greater extent, than any other remedies known
to the public.
These remedies will effectually cure Liver Com
olaint. Jaundice. Dva neDsia.Chronio.or Ner
vous Debility, Chron - 10 Diarrhoea, Disease of
the Kidneys, and all Diseases arising from a dis
ordered Liver, Stomach, or Intestines
DEBILITY.
Resulting from ny uuu whatever ; prostration
of the syttem, induced by severe labor, '
hardships, exposure, fevers, ete.
There is no medicine extant equal to these rem
edies in such cases. A tone and vigor is imparted
to the whole system, the appetite is strengthed,
food is enjoyed, the stomach digests promptly, the
blood is purified, the complexion becomes sound
and healthy, the yellow tinge is eradicated from
the eyes, a bloom is given to the cheeks, and the
weak and nervous invalid becomes a strong and
healthy being.
PERSONS ADVANCED IN LIFE,
And feeling the hand of time weighing heavily
upon them, with all Its attendant ills. will find in
tne use ot tbis til iXttHS, or tne iu.h iu, an euxer
that will instil new life into their veins, restore
in a measure the energy and ardor of mure youth
ful days, build up their shrunken forma, and give
h-alth and happiness to their remaining years.
NOTICE.
It is a well established fact that fully one-half
of the female portion of our population are rel
dom in the enjoyment of good health; or, to
use their own expres slon, "never feel well."
They are languid, devoid of all energy, extreme
ly nervous, and have no appetite. To tbis class
of persons the BITTERS, or the TONIC, is espe
cially recommended.
WEAK. AND DELICATU UUlLVKZil

remedies, iney will cure every case oi ma.aA.o-

Thousands of certificates have accumulated in
