The River. The water in the river con
tinues unusually low, and the prospect for
getting the balance of the timber to market,
this spring, is anything but flattering. As
a consequence, that which has reached a
market, will no doubt, enhance in value, and
afford the owners a remunerative return.
Farming and Gardsxing. Now that
the weather promises to be . favorable, no
time should be lost in preparing the soil for
sowing and planting. The season is - already
far advanced, and unless due diligence is us
ed in putting in the seeds, some of the crops
may not mature in time to escape the early
fall frosts. All should bear these facts in
mind." - "
A Normal School. We see it stated

this place the authorities having intimated
their intentions of doicg so, providing proper

Tur. Registry. We notice by our ex

Wanted Badly. The ' present great
need of our town is a good Hotel. , . We
t.niRt that some ot our capitalists will see
the propriety of erecting, at an early day, a
respectable building for that purpose. The
houses now used for hotels are a disgrace to
the town miserable old. rickety, rat-holes,
that are fit' for nothing but dry kindling
wood. There ia no better location for a first
class hotel to be found, than Clearfield. It
would not only pay a handsome profit to
those who would build and keep it, but it
would pay every business man in the com

Change in tub Courts. Henceforth the
Courts in this county will be held as follows:
One week, commencing on the second Mon
day of -January ; one week, commencing on
the third Monday of March ; two weeks,
commencing on the fourth Monday of May;
two weeks, commencing on the third Mon
day of June ; two weeks, commencing on
the third Monday of September ; and two
weeks, commencing on the second Monday
of November. This change was made by
Act of Assembly, last winter. It u a sin
gular arrangement, to say the least. The
May and J une terms come almost together.
There will be court enough, however, to
satisfy every body. Six terms' in the year
will certainly afford all suitors an opportu
nity to be heard, and the expenses will sure
ly be enough to surfeit the tax-payers.
Hoofland's Germaji Bitters The Examiner,
of Richmond, Va., says : This is the season of all
others in which this Bitters, now so renowned, is
found so beneficial. A ided to the ingredients
which make this Bitters both dietetic and tonio,
are the qualities which invigorate the debilitated
system, remove languor and depression, restore
the appetite and impart a healthy action to all
the funotions of the body. The mother and house
keeper should never be without it, and the trav
eller who packs his trunk or portmanteau for the
Springs, should class among the necessary articles
a few bottles of Hoofland's German Bitters. He
will find it an invaluable medicine ia the hour
of transient derangement of the system, which is
likely to befall any one in this climate, an espe
cially during the Summer season. It is pure, free
from all intoxicating liquors, and for that reason
the most strictly temperate need not hesitate to
use it, personally ,or in their families. Hoofland'a
German Tonic is a combination of all the ingre
dients of the Bitters, with pure Santa Cms Rum,
orange, anise, Ifo It is used for the same diseases
as the Bitters, in eases where some Alcholio stim
ulant is required. It is a preparation of rare
value. and most agreeable to the palate. Princi

An Organ "Galloping" into Payor. ;
A most remarkable piece of musical me
chanism, in ' the shape of an organ, repre

creeping or rather galloping into public fa

whose tones, no not tones merely or ab

tions of the human heart, whether of joy or
of sorrow, at the will of the performer, and
cause the listener to wonder Low it lives
without eating and drinking, like human
beings. Those enterprising gentlemen, H.
Kleber k Bro., 122 Wood street,PitUburg,
have it for sale, and would be pleased to ex
hibit to those who desire to witness its pow
ers, the wonderful capacity it possesses to
inspire our minds, stir our hearts, and min

Those who have no objection to the combination
of the Bitters, ai stated, will use
UQOFLANirS GERMAN TONIC.
They are both equally good, and contain the

the most palatable. - 1 - - j
The stomach, from a variety (of causes, such as
Indigestion, Dyspepsia, Nervous Debility, etc., is
very apt to have its functions deranged. The
Liver, sympathizing as closely as itdoeswith
the Stomach, then be comes affected, the result
of which is that the patient suffers from several
or more of the following diseases'. :
Constipation, Flatulenoe, Inward Piles, Fulness
of Blood to the Head. Acidity of the Stomach,
Nausea, Heartburn, Disgust for Food. Fulness
or Weight in the Stomach, Sour Eructations,
Sinking or Fluttering at the Pitof the Stomach,

Breathing, Fluttering at the Heart. Choking or
Suffocating Sensations when in a Lying Posture,
Dimness of Vision. Dots or Webs before the Sight,

tioo. Yellowness of the Skin, and Eyes. Pain in
the Side, BacK.Chest, Limbs, etc. .Sudden flush
es of Heat, Burning in the Flesh, Constant im
aginings of EvU.and great depression of Spirits
The sufferer from these diseases should exorcise
the greatest caution in the selection of a remedy
for his case, purchas:ng only that which' he is as
sured from his inves ligations and inquiries
possesses true merit, ' ja skilfully compound-.
ed, is free from injurious ingredidents, and has
established for itself a reputation for the cure of
these diseases. In this connnection we would
