SHAESWOOD ON LEGAL TENDEES.
Extract from His Opinion in the Casa "of
, . Borie vs. Trott.
"Ou the whole, then, I ajsi of opinion
tfiat the provision of the act of Congress of
February 25th, 1862, declaring the notes is
sued in pursuance of that act to be lawful
money, aiul a legal : tender, i uucunntitu
tional." (
"This render.? it unnecessary that I hhould
consider the other question which has been
made, as to the effect of the special agree
ment to pay in' lawful silver money of the
United States. , I am in favor of entering
judgment for the plaintiff, but as a majori
ty of the court are of a different opinion,
judgment for the defendant. ' ' Copied from
the rhiladrJphia Age of Fef,ruary 23, 1864,
where the.oiiinion is published in full.
- It may also be found in the' Legal Intelli
gencer of March 18, 1864, page 02.
In the same copy of the Age is a carefully
prepared eulogy of the J udge and this
opinion, in which is the following :
"Judge Sharswood reasons upon and de
cides the case as if he were some lofty spir
it sitting far above and out of the conten
tions and strifes of the world."
Will not the holders of greenbacks and
Government : bonds consider the judge as
Quite too elevated and ethcrial for such
earthly honors as a seat on the Supreme
Bench.

A GREAT DISCOVERY. One of the
X1- greatest and most useful discoveries in
medical science was made by the celebrated Dr.
J Dumas, of Paris. Chief Physician to the Impe
rial Infirmary of France, in 1861. Those who
have been afflicted with the painful disease known
as the Piles, and effectually cured by the use of
Dr. Dumas' Fresch Pile Salve, cannot speak too
highly of the benefits conferred upon them by
the use of this certain remedy. It has never
been known to fail in effecting a permanent euro
in a single case. In this respect it surpasses all
other medicines of the kind. It will do just
what it is recommended for ; if not. the money
will be refunded. One or two boxes is sufficient
to effect a permanent -cure in four or six days, if
the directions on the box are followed. Price one
and two dollars per box, according to size. Sent
by Mail or Express to any part of the United
States or Canada. Sold by Druggists generally.
A liberal discount made to the trade. Address,

nR. SCIIENCK'S PULMONIC SYR
lJ UP.
This great medicine cured Dr. J. H. Schenck,
the proprietor, of Pulmonary Consumption, when
it had assumed its most formidable aspect, and
when speedy death appeared to bo inevitable.
His physicians pronounced his case incurable,
when ho commenced the use of this simple but
powerful remedy. His health was restored in a
very short time, and he return of tho disease has
been apprehended, for all the symptoms quick'y
disappeared, and his present weight is more than
two hundred pounds.
Since his recovery.he has devoted his attention
exclusively to the cure of consumption, and the
diseases which are usually complicated with it,
and the cures effected by his medicines have been
very numerous and truly wonderful. Dr. Schenck
makes professional Visits to several of the larger
cities weekly, where he has a large concourse of
patients, and it is truly astonishing to see poor
consumptives that have to be lifted out of their
carriages, and in a few months healthy, robust
persons. Dr Schenck's Pulmonic Syrup, Sea
Wecd Tonic, and Mandrake Pills are generally
all required in curing consumption Full direc
tions accompany each, so that any one can take
them without seeing Dr. Schenck, but when it is
convenient it is best to see him. He gives advice
free, but for a thorough examination with his
Respirometer his fee is three dollars.
Please observe, when purchasing, that the two
likenesses of the Doctor one when in the last
stage of consumption, and the other as he now is.
