SHARSWOOD Off LEGAL TENDERS.
Extract from His Opinion in the Casa of
; i ; . - Borie tb. Trofct. . , .
"On the whole, then, I am of opinion
that the provision of the act of Congress of
February 25th, 1862, declaring the notes is
sued in pursuance of that act to be . lawful
money, and a legal tender, is unconstitu
tional" - - ,,
"This renders it unnecessary that I should
consider the other question which has been
made, as to the effect of the special agree
ment in nav in lawful silver money of the
United States. ' I am in favor of entering
judgment for the plaintiff, but as a majori
ty of the court are of a different opinion,
judgment for the defendant. " Copied from
the fhUmmpliut jige oj reoruary o, ow-,
.where the, opimon is puoiienea in iuu.
' It may also be found in the Legal Intelli
loncer of March 18, 1864, page 92.,
In the same copy of the Ag is a 'carefully
finlnirv of the Judffe and this
dDinioo. in which is the following :
"Judge Sharswood reasons upon and de
cides the case as if he were some lofty spir
it sitting far above and out or tne conten
tions and strifes of the world."
. Will nnt the holders of ffreenbacks and
Government bonds consider the judge as
duite too elevated and ethcrial for . such
earthly honors as a seat on the Supreme
Bench. " ' ' - ' :

A GREAT DISCOVERY. One of the
greatest and most useful discoveries in
medical science was made by the celebrated Dr.
J Dumas, of Paris Chief Physician to the Impe
rial Infirmary of France, in 1861. Those who
have been afflicted with the painful disease known
as the Piles, and effectually cured by the use of
Dr. Dcmas Fresch Pile Salve, cannot speak too
nigniy ot tne benefits conterred upon them by
the use of this certain remedy. It has never
been known to fail in effecting a permanent cure
in a single case. In this respect it surpasses all
other medicines of the kind. It will do just
what it is recommended for ; if not, tho money
will be refunded. One or two boxes is sufficient
to effect a permanent cure in four or six days, if
the directions on the box are followed. Price one
and two dollars per box, according to size. Sent
by Mail or Express to any part of tho United
States or Canada. Sold by Druggists generally.

CONSUMPTION CURABLE BY DR.
SCHEXCK'S MEDICINES.
To cure consumption, the system must be pre
pared so that the lungs will heal. To accomplish
this, the liver and stomach must first be cleansed
and an appetite created lor good wholesome food,
which, by these medicines will be digested prop
erly, and good healthy blood made ; thus build
ing up the constitution. Schenck's .Mandrake
l'His cleanse the stomach of all billious or mucu
ous accumulations; and, by using the Sea Weed
Tonic in connection, the appetite is restored.
Schenck's Pulmonic Syrup is nutriciousas well
as medicinal, and, by using the three remedies,
all imparities are expelled from she system, and
good, wholesome blood made, which will repel all
disease. If patients will take these medicines
according . to directions, consumption very fre
quently in its last stage yields readily to their ac
tion, lake the Fills frequently, to cleanse tho
liver and stomach. It does not follow that because
the bowels are not costive they are not required,
for sometimes in diarrhea they are necceesary.
The stomach must be kept health v. ami an anna.
tite created to allow the Pulmonic Syrop to act
on iud icBjiiraiurjr organs properly and allay an
irritation. Then all that is required to perform
a permanent cure is, to prevent taking oni.l R,.
ercise about the rooms as much as possible, eat all
tne ricnest rood fat meat, game, and, in fact,
anything the appetite craves; but be particular
