"I ON VERSION OF 7 3-l0s.-In reply
. V to numerous inquiries in resrard to the
manner of converting the August 7 3-lfls into the
new 520 Gold Coupon lionds we mate the follow
ing statement for the benefit of the holders of
7 3-lUa. who may not be informed. The Govern
ment computes the interest on both bonds in cur
rency from the date of the maturity of the last
coupon, allowing seven and three-tenths on the
7 3-10s. and charging six per cent on the 5-20s.
For example: You send to Washington Si ,000
7 3-10 Bond which reaches there on
May 1st, : : : $1,000
74 days interest, : : 14 84
6-20s. : : '
1 19 days interest,

(This counted at 3B5 d's pr a) 1.019 5t5
Allowed for 7 3-10s, : 1,014 80
Youiay Government : 4 76
It will be seen ly this that the Gold interest is
given as currency, which isofitselta profit to
the party converting the 7 3-10s of nearly eight
dollars per $1,000, aside from the fact that at the
present rate of (told, say 40. the 5-2'Js pay over 8
per cent per annum At present we are convert
ing the 7 3-1 0s on much better terms than the
Government, as the present buying and selling
rates enables us to allow the holder of the 7 3-I03
a better figure than has yet been offered by any
one as a commission.
Parties exchanging through us, in addition to
getting much better terms than they can from the
Government, will have their bonds delivered im
mediately, thus saving delay. We also register
any bonds seut to us without charge. On Bonds
sent by express v?e pay charges both wavs.
