IP.YOTJ WANT A KISS TAKE IT.
There's a jolly Saxon proverb
That's pretty much like ttis.
That a man is half in Leaven,
Whea he ha3 a womatrto kiss;
Bnt there'3 danger in delaying
And the 6Hreetnes may forsake it ;
So I tell yoa, ba.-?hlttl lover,
If you "want a kiss why take it.
Never let another fellow
Steal a march oo you in this ;
Never let a lauahin? maiden
See you spoiling tor a kis,
There's a royal way to kissin?,
And the jolly ones who make it
Have a motto that is winning
If yoa want a kiss why take it.
Any foe may face a cannon,
Any body wear a crown,
Bat a man must win a woman
If he'd have her for his own ;
Would yoa have the golden apple.
You must find the tree and shake it,
If the thing is worth having.
If you want a kiss why take it
Who would bnrn upon a de:ert,
With a forest smiling by ?
Who would give Lb sunny summer
For a bleak and wintry f-ky ?
Oh 1 I tell you there is magic,
And you cannot, cannot break it,
For the sweetest part of loving
Is to want a kiss and take it.
The sherry wine merchants ot Ladiz

weighs one thousand two hundred and forty

CONVERSION OF 7 3-l0.s.-In reply
to numerous inauines in regard to the
manner of converting the August 7 iJ-103 into the
new 5-20 Gold Coufcn Bonds we uiaKe the follow-
rnr statement for the bcuebt ot tne noiicis oi
' 3 10s. who may not be informed. The Govern
ment computes the interest on both bonds in cur
rency from the date of the maturity of the last
coupon, allowing seven and three-tenths on tne
S-lOs, and charging six per cent on tne o-sva.
For example: You send to Washington $i ,0UO
7 3-10 lion ! which reaches there on
May lit, : : : 31,000
74 days interest, : : 14 St)
5-20s. :
119 days interest,
: 51,000
: 19 56
(This counted at 365 ds pr a) 1.013 ltd
Allowed for 7 3-103, : 1,014 80
You pay Government : 4 78
It will be seen Ly this that the Gold interest is
given as currency, which is of itselt a profit to
the party converting the 7 3-10s of nearly eight
dollars per SI. 000, aside from the fact that at the
present rate of Gold, say 40, the 5-20s pay over 8
per cent per annum At present we are convert
ing the 7 3-1 Os on much better terms than the
Goyernment. as the present buying and selling
rates enables us to allow the holder of the 7 3-1 0s
a better figure than has yet been offered by any
one as a commission. -
Parties exchanging through us. in addition to
getting much better terms than they can troin the
Government, will have their bonds delivered im
mediately, thus savine delay. Vealso register
any bonds sent to us without charge. On Bonds
sent by express we pay charges both ways.
