A boy with a moderate Eng lish education, of sober and industrious habits, from fihcen to seventeen years of aje, and who can come wellecomniended, an obtain a situation to learn the printing luiness by applying at the Journal office, tooa. A boy from the country preferred. The Weather. For several days past the air has leen exceedingly oold in this region, and stoves and fuel were requiste to nifortable atmosphere in rooms and looses. It is teared that the Iruit, which escaped the frosts hitherto, will be much injured, if not entirely destroyed by the prevailing cold. All kinds of vegetation is also much retarded by the frigid atmosphere, and ia likely to be injured thereby. A Robbeby. "We understand that one night Fome three weeks since, the Hard ware store of Messrs. Merrell k Bigler, of this borough, was entered by means of a feJse key, by some unknown expert, and robbed of about $300. The banks having closed before it was thought of depositing the money, one of the firm hid it under the eouatr never doubting its security there. No suspicion attaches to any one of being ibe thiet Ait Unsafe Practice. Many busi ness men are in the habit of placing their money in 6ome old book during business lourB,andthen, afterclosingupinthe evening Bticking it among their goods for safety dur iogthe night. Next morning, on some one presenting a bill to be changed, it is drawn from its hiding pLce, in the presence of whoever may chauce to be in at the time. "We have observed such recurrences perhaps h dozen times, in that number of months, at the same place. This practice gives evil disjwsed person an opportunity of judging where a man keeps his money, and sooner r later we hear of his being robbed. We trust this notice will be the means of dis continuing the practice referred to. Attempted Bank Robbery. An un ueceAsful attempt was made, on last Fri day night, to rob the County National Bank, in this place. To gain admittance to the banking house, it was necessary to go into Mr. Entrea' lot, adjoining the building. Ilere a large cross dog was kept, which the robbers poisoned. Having silenced the dog, they proceeded to bore the lock off the door which communicated with the yard. This accomplished, they commenced to drill a hole into the lock of the safe, evidently with the intent of blowing it up. The iron being hard, they apparently mad but slow progress, and by the time they drilled half through the plate, abandoned the project,: whether on account of the approach of day light, or some other cause, is not known. Robbing and thieving seems to be on the Increase in this place, and we hope the depredators will be caught, and punished they deserve. Terrible Explosion. We learn that on Wednesday, May 16th, at about 1 o'clock, the boiler of the Portable Steam Saw mill, of J. C. Brenner & Co., of Mor ris township, exploded and killed two men named John Reader and Wni. Sauntinan. Reader, who was from Fulton county, was most horribly mangled, having had the up per half of his head blown off, while a piece of the boiler passed through his body, just above the hips, besides having most of the larger hones in his body crushed. Sauntman, who was from near Greensburg in Westmoreland county, had .one hand blown off, besides having had his arms broken and otherwise much mangled. Both were.aober and industrious men, and much admired by their employers. Three other men named Conrad," brothers, who were at work at the mill at the same time, narrowly scaped the fate of their comrades all of them being more or less injured by the fall ing of the wreck of the mill. A Copperhead editor exclaims, in view f the increasing strength of Repulicanisni, "Unless the people respond we are lost!" Then by all means, good people, don't re fpood. Let the fellow be lost, for the eoun ? wiS be none the poorer. MARRIED f At the residence of the bride's father in Jordan township, cn Thursday evening, May 17th, 1866, by Rev. T. The kidneys are two in number, sit uated at the tipper part of the loin, surrounded by fat, and consisting of three parts, viz : the anterior, the in terior, and the exterior. The anterior absorbs; the interior consists of tissues or vein, which serve as, a deposit for the urine, and convey it to the exterior ; the exterior is a conductor also, terminating in a single tube, and called the ureter; the ureters are connected with the bladder. The bladder is composed of various coverings or tissues, divided into parts, vis : the upper, the lower, the nervous, and the mucous. The upper expels, the lower retains. Many have a desire to urinate without the ability, othejs u rmate without the ability to retain. This fre quently occurs in children. - :. To cure these affections we must bring into action the muscles, which are engaged in their various functions. If they are neglected Gravel and Dropsy may ensue. The reader must also be made aware that, however slight msj be the attack, it is sure to affect his bodily health and mental powers, as our flesh and blood are supported from these Gout, or Rheumatism. Fain occurring in the loins is indic ative of the above diseases. They occur in per sons disposed to acid sfomach and chalky secre tions. The Gravel. " The Gravel ensues from nerlect or the improper treatment of the kidneys. These org.irs being weak, the water is not expel led from the bladder, but allowed to remain ; it becomes feverish and sediment forms. It is from this deposit that the stone is formed and Gravel ensues DROPSY Is a collection of water in some parts of the hody, nnd bears different names, according to the part affected, vir.: wren generally diffused over the body, it is called Anasarca ; when of the abdhmen, Ascites ; when of the chest, Hydro thorax TREATMENT. ITelmbold's highly concentrated Ex tract of Buchu is decidedly one of the best remedies for diseases of the bladder, kidneys, gravel, dropsical swellings, rheumatism, and gou ty affections. I'nder this head we have arrang ed Dysuria, or difficulty and f ain in passing wat er: Scanty secretion, or small and frequent dis chnres cf water; Stranguflry. or stopping of water; Hjcmaturia. or bloody urine ; Gout and Rhematism of the kidneys, without any change in quantity, but increase of color or dark water. It was always highly recommended by the late Dr Physick in these affections. This medicine increases the power of digestion, and excites the absorbents into heal thy exercise, by which the watery or calcareous depositions and all unnatural enlargements, as well as pain and inflamation, are reduced, and is taken by Men,Women& Children. Directions for use and diet accompany. FniLADELPHiA, Pa., Feb. 25, 1857. II. T. Helmbold, Druggist: Dear Sir:I have been a suffer er, for upwards of twenty years, with gravel, bladder, and kidney affections, during which fime I have used various medicinal preparations, and been under the treatment of the most eminent physicians, experiencing but litUe relief. Having seen your preparations ex tensively advertised. I consulted with my family physician in regard to using your Extract Buchu. I did this because I used all kinds of advertised remedies, and had found them worthless, and some quite injurious ; in fact, I despaired of ever getting well, and determin ed to use no remedies unless I knew of the ingre dients. It was this that prompted mo to use your remedy As you advertised that it was compos ed of neenn, drums, and jcsipbr berries, it oc curred to me and my physician as an execllent combinntion, and. with his advice, after an exam ination of the article, and eonsnlting again with the druggist. I eonenluded to try it. I commen ced its use ,sbout cightmonths "go, atwhich time I was confined to my room. From the first bot tle I was astonished and gratified at the benefi cial effect, nnd artcr using it three weeks, was a ble to walk out. I felt much like writing you a full statement of my case at the time, but thought my improvement might only be temporary and therefore concluded to defer and see if it would effect a perfect cure, knowing then it would be of greater value to you nd more satisfactory to me I am now able to report that a cure is effected after using the remedy for five months. I have not used any now for three months, and feel as well in all respects as I ever did. Your Buchu being devoid of any unpleasant taste and odor, a nice tonic and invigorator of the system. I do not mean to be without it whei ever occasion may require its use in such affection M. M'CORMICB.. . Should any doubt Mr. McCormick's statement, he refers to the following gentlemen : lion. Wm.
