A Rkhoiohs Revival. The protracted

Jul During its progress a great many per

manifested on the subject of religion fuite

Jihe. We have been informed that the
large dwelling house and store of Mr. Thos.
Groom, and the adjoining building, in Glen
Hope, were dirfroyed by fire on the morn
ing of the 22d of February. The fire was
first discovered about three 3 o'clock, but
hid already made such headway that it was
impossible to save the buildings. Part of
the goods and furniture were saved. The
luilding adjoining the store, was occupied
by Miss. E. A. Wright as a milliner Store
ami post office, but it is not stated whether
fhe sustained any loss. The loss is consid
erable, and we presume there was no insur
ance thereon.
A Break up in the River. During
the latter part of last week, the weather was
quite mild, and soon the river began to rise
from the melting of the snow. On Satur
day night, about 11 o'clock, the ice com
jneacc l to break up, and by Sunday morn
ing the liver was clear for some miles above
and below this place. We understand that
a Jare amount of timber was carried away
by the ice all along the river in one in
stance, some 12 or 15 rafts in one lot. On
Sunday aaorning, ho .vever, the air was some
what colder, and in the afternoon hard freez
ing set in and stopped theflowof water into
the streams otherwise the hxa would have
been much greater. Yet, as it is, much
ldinber has been swept away the loss of
tthich will be seriously felt by many persons.

THE KIDNEYS.
Tho kidneys are two in number, sit
uated at tlie upper part of the loin,
surrounded by fat, and consisting of
three parts, viz : the anterior, the in
terior, and the exterior.
The anterior absorbs; fhe interior consists of
tissues or veins, which serve as a deposit for the
urine, and convey it to the exterior ; the exterior
is a conductor also, terminating in a single tube,
and called the ureter; the ureters are connected
with tho bladder.
The bladder is composed of various
coverings or tissues, divided into parts, viz : the
upper, the lower, the nervous, and the mucous.
The upper expels, the lower retains. Many have
a desire to urinate without the ability, otheis u
rinate without the ability to retain. This fre
quently occurs in children.
To cure these affections wc must
bring into action the muscles, which ire engaged
in their various functions. If they are neglected
Gravel and Dropsy may ensue
The reader must also lie made aware
that, however slight may be the attack, it is sure
to affect his bodily health and mental powers, as
our flesh and blood are supported from tlnue
sources.
Gout, or Rheumatism.
Pain oucurrincc in the loins is indic
ative of the above diseases. They occur in pep
sous disposed to acid stomach and chalky beer
tions.
The Gravel.
The Gravel ensues from neglect or
the improper treatment of the kidneys.
These organs being weak, the water is not expel
led from the bladder, but allowed to remain; it
becomes feverish and sediment furms. It is from
this deposit that the stono is furmed and Gravel
ensues

of the body, and bears different names, according
to the part affected, viz: when generally diflused
over the body, it is called Anasarca; when of the
abdomen, Ascites ; when of the chest, lly tiro
thorax TREATMENT.
llclmbold's highly concentrated Ex
tract of Buehu is decidedly one of the
best remedies for diseases of the bladder, kidneys,
gravel, dropsical swellings, rheumatism, and gou
ty affections. Under this head we have arrang
ed Dysuria, ordiffieulty and pain in passing wat

charges of water; t-tranguary. or stopping of
water; lUematuria. or bloody urine ; (ion land
Rhcmatisni of tho kidneys, without any change
in quantity, but increase of color or dark water.
It was always highly recommended by the lain
Dr Phytick in these affections.
This medicine increases the power
of digestion, and excites the absorbents into heal
thy exerci.-e. by which the watery or calcareous
depositions and all unnatural enlargements, as
well as pain and intiamation, are reduced, and is

II. T. Helmbold, Druggist :
Dear Sir: I .have been a suffer
er, for upwards of twenty years, with
gravel, bladder, and kidney affections,
during which lime I have used various medicinal
preparation, and been under the treatment of
the most eminent physicians, experiencing but
little relief.
Having seen your preparations ex
tensively advertised, I consulted with my family
physician in regard to using your Extract Buchu.
I did this because I used all kinds
of advertised remedies, and had found
them worthless, and some quite injurious ; in fact,
I despaired of ever getting well, and determin
ed to use no remedies unless I knew of the ingre
dients. It was this that prompted me to use your
remedy As you advertised that it was couipon
ed of nut'iic, cuhebs, and ji;nii-kk dkhiuks, it oc
curred to me and my physician as an excellent
combination, and, with his advice, after an exam
ination of the article, and consulting again with
the druggist. I conculuded to try it. I commen
ced its use about eight months ago, at w h ich time
I was confined to my room. From the first bot
tle I was astonished and gratified at the benefi
cial effect, and arter using it three weeks, was a
ble to walk out. I felt much like writing you a
full statement of my case at the time, but thought
my improvement might only bo temporary and
therefore concluded to defer and see if it would
effect a perfectcure, knowing then it would be of
greater value to you vnd more satisfactory to me
I am now able to report that a cure
is effected after using the remedy for
five months.
I have not used any now for three
