; jfferiug from great and long continued debility.
The use of three bottles of these Litters, at the
Iteinning of the present year, was followed by

PARTICULAR NOTICE;
There are many preparations sold under the
ii Hue of Bitters.put up in quart bottles, compoun
ded oithe cheapest whiskey or common rum. cos-
n.r from 20 to 40 cents per gallon, the taste dis
guised by Anise or Coriander Seed.
This class of Bitters has caused and will contiu
uo to eause, as long as they cm be sold, hundreds
to dio the death of the drunkard. By their use
;hesvstem is kept continually under tho inilu-
fuce of Alcoholic Stimulants ol the worst kind, tho
desire for Liquor is created and kept up and tho
result is all the horrors attendant upon a drunk- !
urd's life and death.
For those who desiro and will hive, a Liquor
Litters, we publish the following receipt. Get
Oti Bottle llitofliutd s tier man' Hitter and mix
with Three Quart of Good Brandy or Whitley,
and the result will be a preparation that will far
tzcel in medicinal virtues and true excellence
any of the numerous Liquor bitters ia the mark
et, and will cost much less. You will have all
the virtues of lloorland's Bitters in connection
with a good article of Liquor.at a much less price
thin these inferior preparations will cost you.
ATTENTION, SOLDIERS!
AND THE FRIENDS OF SOLDIERS.
We call the attention of all having relations or
friends in the army to the fact that '-Hooplavd's
German Litters'' will euro nine tenths of the dis
eases induced by exposures and privations inci
dent to camp life. In the lists, published almost
daily in the newspapers, on the arrival of the
sick, it will be notieed that a very large propor
tion are suffering from debility. Every case of
that kind can be readily cured by Hoofland "s Ger
man Bitters. Diseases reyultinir from disorders
of the digestive organsare speedily removed. We
have no hesitation in stating :h. it, if these Bitters
were freely used among our soldiers, hundreds of
lives might be saved that oihej-wise will be lost.
We call particular attention to the following re
markable and well authenticated cure of one the
nation's heroes, whocc life, to use his own lan
guage, '-has been sived by the Bitters: '
PAii.Anet.rntA. August 2 '.rd, 1852.
JSltjt.tr. Jous A- Eviti. Well, gentlemen your
Moorland's German Litters haj eared my lift;.
There is no mistake in this. tt is Touched for
by numbers of my comrades, some of whose names
are appended, and who were fully cognisant of
all the ircumstatices of my case. I am. and
have been lor the last four years, a member of
Sherman's celebrated battery, and under the im
mediate command of Capt. K B. Ayres. Through
the expo sure attendant upon my duties, I was
attacked in November last with inflammation of
the Jungs, and was for seventy-two days in the
hospital. This was followed by great debility,
heightened by an attack of dysentery. I was then
removed from the White lbm.se. and sent to this
city on board the Steamer -Siate of Maine, "from
which I landed on the 2Sth of June. Since that
time 1 have been about as low a any one could
be and still retain a spark of vitality. For a
week or more I was scarcely able to swallow any
thing, and if I did force a morsel down, it was
immediately thrown up again.
I could not even keep a glass of water on my
stomach. Life could not last under these circum
stances; and. accordingly, the physicians who
had been working faithfully, though unsuccess
fully, to reseu o mc from the grasp of tho dread
Archer, frankly told mc they could do no more
for mc, and advised mo to seo a clergyman, and
to make such disposition of my limited funds as
best suited me. An acquaintance who visited mc
at the hospital, Mr. Frederick Stciuborn. of Sixth
' below Arch Street, advi.'cd mo, a3 a forlorn hope,
to try your Bitters, and kind!v procured a bottlo.
From the time I commenced takii.g them the
gloomy shadow of death receded, and I am now,
thank God for it, getting bettor. Though 1 have
taken but two bottles, have gained ten pounds,
and I feel sanguine of being permitted to rejoin
my wife and daughter, fjpru whom I have heard
nothing for eighteen mouths: for. gentlemen, I
am a loyal Virginian, from the vicinity of Front
Royal. To your invaluable Bitters I owe the cer
tainty of life which has taken place of vague fears
to your Litters will 1 owe the glorious privi
lege of again clasping to my bosom those who are
dearest to me in life.
Very truly yours, Isaac Malosb.
We fully concur in the truthjof the above state
ment.as we bad despaired of seeing our comrade,
Mr. Malone, restored to health.

has tho impudence to call it

a lid states that it is made from my recipe, and, as
if to carry out a rcguhir game of "Stop Thief,"
he tells the public th.t -'there is a counterfeit in
the market, to see that hi name is over the cork
of every bottlo" Ac. He also publishes tho most
extravagant certificate headed '-A Blind Man
Cured" "A Bnd Sore Leg Cured," Ac. I allowed
him to proceed in this way for nearly twelve
months, knowing that those who had cither used
or sold my. article would have nothing to do with
his, but I found there was a number unacquaint
ed with mine who were induced from tho above
statements to give his a trial The consequence
was disappointment to them and injury to me. as
they would at once pronounce Lindsey's Blood

.Sick Headache and Want of Appstite, Inciden
tal to Soldiers.
These foclings which so sadden us usually arise
from trouble or annoyances, obstructed perspira
tion, or eating and drinking whatever is unwhole
some, thus disturbing the healthful action of the
Liver and Stomach. These organs must be reliev
ed, if you desire to be well. The P.Ils taken ac
cording to the printeu instructions, will quickly
produce a healthy action in both Liver and Stom
ach, and as a natural consequence, a clear head
and good appetite.
Weakness or Debility Induce! by Over Fatigue
Will soon disappear by the use of these invalua
ble Pills, and the SoldRr will quickly acquire ad
ditional strength Never let the Bowels be either
co i fined or unduly acted upon It may seem
strange, that Holloway's Pills should be recom
mended for Dysentery and Flux, many persons
supposing that they would increase the relaxation.
This is a great mistake, for these Pills will correct
the Liver and Stomach, and thus remove all the
acrid humors from the system. This medicine wijl
give tone and vigor to the whole organic system,
however dcran ;ed, while health and strength fol
low as a matter of course. Nothing will stop the
relaxation of tho Bowels so sure a;? this medicine.
Volunteers, Attention !-Indisereti(ma of Youth.
Sores and Ulcers. Blotches and Swellings, can
with certainty be radically cured, if the Piils are
taken night aud morning, and the Ointment be
freely used as stated in the printod instructions.
If treated in any other manner, thoy dry up in
one part to break out in another. Whereas this
Ointment will remove the humors from the system,
and leave the Patient a healthy and vigorous man.
It will require a little perseverance in bad cases
to insure a lasting cure.
For Wounds either o;casioned by the Bayonet,
Sabre, or the Bullet, Sores or Bruises,
To which every Soldier or Sailor are liable, there
are no medicines so safe, sure, an l convenient, as
Holloway's Pills and Ointment. The poor wounds
ed and almost dying sufferer might have his wound
dressed immediately, if.ho wouli only provide
himself with this matchlessOintment. which should
be thrust into the wound and smeared all around
it. then covered with a pieoe of linen from his
knapsack and compressed with a handkerchief.
Taking, night and morning, 6 or S Pills, to cool
the system and prevent inflammation.
Every Soldier's Knapsack and Seaman's Chest
should be provided with these valuable remedies.
CAUTION. None are genuine unless the
words "Hollowat. New Yckk asd Losnox," are
diseemable as a Water-mark in every leaf of trie
book of directions around each pot or box; the
same may be plainly seen by iioldixq tub leap
