Doctor is attached, Is now stationed at Win
chester, whore they are likely to remain for

has decided that the stay law of this State.

most formidable batteries encountered were
tliose of Fort Jackson and Fort Fhilip, situa
ledoposite each other, and commanding the
"fge of the stream. These forts had an ar
gument of one hundred and seventy guns,
insisting chiefly ot 68 pounder rifled cannon.
The navigation of the river is stopped by a

Among the letters found by our soldiers in
the rebel camp at Roanoke Island, was one
from a young lady in the South to her lover
in the rebel army, in which she savs : "I hone

there will be no Yankees."
