TEACHINGS OF PATRIOTS AND STATES
MEN, or, tht "Founders of the Republic" oh
Slavery. "Fiat Justitia." A Great National
Work every man who votes, or expects to vote,
should buy and read it; it is not a partisan book
, but a compilation from the report of Debates, and
from other reliable sources, of the Speeches and
Writings of the "Founders of the Republic" on
the question of Slavery, showing their opinions
thereon, as expressed in the Congress of the Con
federation, in the Convention to form the Consti
tution, and in the several State conventions to rat
ify the same. A distinguished feature of the dis
cussions are the Speeches of Malison, Randolph,
Dr. Franklin, Ruthedge, Livingston, Roger Slier
man, Ellsworth., PatncJc Henry. Mason, PiucA
ney, Lowndes, and in short, all those men of the
Revolutionary times, renowned alike for their pa
triotism, statesmanship and virtues. It will in
clude the History of the Ordinance of 1787, by Pe
ter Force, Esq., the great congressional compiler
the only authentic account of that famous Ordi
nance ever published. The slavery agitation is
then traced in its various phases, in Congress, from
1790 to 1354, and the opinions gathered from the
Speeches and Letters) of Jefferson, Madison, Mon
roe, Harrison, Pincinry. John Quincy Adams,
' ' lat, altouu, Benton, Webster, Silas Wright,
' and Marcy, as" well as eminent living Statesmen.
are accurately compiled. It will also contain the
- Dred Soott and other decisions of the Courts upon
the Slave Question ; the great speech of Alexan
der Hamilton advocating Monarchical Govern-
1 ment; also his plan of Government ; the Inaugu
ral' Addresses of Washington, Adams, Jefferson
' and Madison, and the Farewell Addressesof Wash
tneton and Jackton. -
It is not designed for a partisan book; but as
all parties olaim to represent the views of the ' Fa
thers of the Republic" on the Slavery Question,
the object of the compilation is rather to show
what those views were, and what construction the
eminent statesmen of the country have given the
Constitution, from the period of its adoption to the
Repeal of the Missouri Compromise in 1854.
This volume is the only work of the kiDd pub
lished, and should be in the bands of all who wish
a history of this all absorbing question. It has
been compiled with great care by Hon- E. B.

its full and authentic compilation.

TETTER'S STOMACH
T T K It S. The proprietors and
Manufacturers of Hosteller's Celebrated Stomach
Bitters can appeal with perfect confidence to phy
sicians and citizens generally of the United States,
because the article has attained a reputation here
tofore unknown. A few facts upon this point will
e peak more powerfully than volumes of bare asser
tion or blasoning puffery. The consumption of
Uostetter's Stomach Bitters for the last year a
mounted to over a half-million bottles, and from
its manifest steady increase in times past, it is ev
ident that during the coming year the consump
tion will reach near one million bottles. This im-.
menso amount could never have been sold but for
the rare medicinal propertiescontained in the pre
paration, and the sanction of the most prominent
physicians in those sections of the country where

the Biiters to their patients, but are ready at all
times to give testimonials to its emcaoy in all ca
sesof stomachic derangements and the diseases re
suiting therefrom. This is not a temporary popu
larity, obtained by extraordinary efforts in the way
of trumpeting tne qualities ot tne uitters, Dut a
solid estimation of an invaluable medicine, which
is destined to be as enduring as time itself
Uostetter's Stomach Bitters have proved a God
send to regions where fever and ague and various
other bilious complaints have counted their vic
tims by hundreds. To be able to state confident
ly that the 'Bitters' are a certain cure for the Dys
pepsia and like diseases, is to the proprietors a
source of unalloyed pleasure. It removes all mor
bid matter from the stomach, purifies the blood
and imparts renewed vitality to the nervous sys
tem, giving it that tone and energy indispensable
for the restoration ol neaitn. it operates upon
the stomach, liver, and other digestive organs
mildly but powerfully, and soon restores them
to a condition essential to the healthy discharge
of the functions of nature.
Elderly persons may use the Bitters daily as per
directions on the Dottle, and they will nnd it
stimulant peculiarly adapted to comfort declining
years, as it is pleasant to the palate, invigorating
to the bowels, excellent as a tonic, and rejuvena
ting generally, we have evidence ot thousands
of aged men and women who have experienced
the benefit of using this preparation while suffer
ing from stomach derangements and general de
bility; acting under the advice of physicians.
they have abandoned all deleterious drugs and
fairly tested the merits of this article.. A few
words to tho gentler sex. - There are certain pe
riods when their cares are so narrassing that many
of them sink under the trial.. The relation of mo
ther and child is so absorbingly tender, that the
mother, especially if she be young, is apt to for
get her own health in the extreme anxiety for her
infant, should tne period tor maternity arrive
during the summer season, the wear of body and
mind is generally aggravated. Here, then, is s
necessity for a stimulant to recuperate the ener
gies of the system, and enable the mother to bear
up under her exhausting trials and responstbili
ties. Nursing mothers generally prefer the Bit
ters to all other mvigorators that receive the en
dorsoment of physicians, because it is agreeable
to the taste as well as certain to give a permanent
increase of bodily strength. .
. All those persons, to whom we have particular
ly referred above, to wit : sufferers from fever and
ague, caused by malaria, diarrhoea, dysentery, in
digestion, loss of appetite, and all diseases or de
rangements of the stomach, superanuated inval
ids, persons of sedentary occupation, and nursing
mothers, will consult their own physical welfare
by giving to Uostetter's Celebrated Stomach Bit
ters a trial. -- ,
