the great excitement about the removal of the

HARROW; Patented, January nSJ
'We need an improvement in narrows," ii a r
mark not unfrequently heard among farmers
mong the few improvements wbich bve hereto!
fore been made in this important and useful
might say indispensable implement of busbandrT
it would seem that none of them has fully mettif'
wants of the Agriculturist. Some are too hearr
some too complicated and costly, and all are lia
ble to the objection that they aro only adapted to
certain kinds of ground, for while it is easy to gt
up a harrow that will work well on smooth, clear"
and level ground, it is not so easy to find one that
will answer a good purpose in new ground, amocr
stumps or on a hilly and undulating surface but
whon you. get one of the latter class, you su
rest assured that it will also give satisfaction on
a smooth surface.
The undersigned confidently believe that thir
object is fully attained in this improvement an
would call the attention of Practical and Scienti fic
agriculturists to the following important fe.
tures which characterize it. First, its simplicity
secondly, its Btrength and durability, and la.t!w
its adaptedness to any and all kinds of surface
The following named practical Farmers, of Clear
field county, who have used it this season thi.i
testify to it.
"- We the undersigned farmers of Penn township

The "Scientific American," a pnper with which
the scientific world is well acquainted speaks thni
in reference to it. "The harrow is one of the mot
important agricultural implements, as much de
pends upon the top pulverizing or dressing of the
soil, both before and after the seed is sown, for the
success of the future crop." After describing it,
it continues : "This combination harrow is so im-
Fle, that it is supcrflous to extend this description,
t can be made cheap, strong and durable, and it
is well adapted for llarrowing either noil clear
ed or rough ground.
The undersigned have purchased the rijrhtto
