THE Fair. We are requested to State that

on the fair grounds of the Clearfield Agricul
tural Society, will be sold out on Tuesday of

Dr. A. 31. Ihixs, Ddntist, requests us to say
'that he will now remain permanently at home
until further notice is given, and will bo pleas
ed to serre all his friends who may desire any
thing in his line of business. St.
Ratti.es3IAK.es. Our venerable friend Sam
ucl Fulton, informs us that whilst surveying
up 'Moose Creek one day last week, he came
upon fovr large rattlesnakes and forty-two
young ones, ranging from 6 to 9 inches in
length, which had been killed by some person,
and were lying in the road near Birchfield's
shanty.
Robbery. Last Friday night, the shoe store
ot Isaac Johnson, in this Borough, was broken
into and about $25 stolen from the money
till. Entrance was aOected by getting on the
roof of an adjoining building and raising one
of the tnper windows. From there the villain
passed down into the lower room, and forced
open the drawer in the counter. So far as is
known, no goods were taken.
Another Patent. We learn that a patent
has issued to two of the citizens of our coun
ty, John II. Reed and L. J. Crans, for a buck
wheat and grain cleaner. This will prove a
"Trainable invention for millers and farmers, as
it can bo so regulated as to scour, hull or chop.
It is simple in construction, requires but little
ipower to operate it, and does its work rapidly
and well.
Another Clcb. We are pleased to learn
that our friends in Penn township have organ
ized a Lincoln and Curtin Club, with the fol
lowing officers: President, John Russel;
Vice Presidents, A. C. Moore, Reuben Wall,
James T. Cook and ElishaFnnton ; Recording
Secretary, T. W. Moore ; Corresponding Sec
retary, J.G.Russell. This club will work
actively in the good cause, and we have no
doubt that Penn township will do her full share
towards electing our whole ticket. -
Clcb i.v Woodward. The Republicans of
"Woodward township met at Sanburn School
ihouse on tho evening of the 1st September,
for the purpose of foiming a Lincoln, Hamlin,
Curtin and Patton Club. James Stott was
called to the chair, after which the club was
permanently organized by electing Jacob F.
Reed, President ; James Stott and John Col
ter, Vice Presidents ; and James Lockertand
Samuel Stott, Secretaries. The club was then
.addressed by John M. Chase and othera, and
resolutions were adopted pledging a hearty
support tolhe whole Republican ticket. Con
siderable enthusiasm prevailed. Woodward
will, as a matter of course, render a good ac
count of herself at the October and Novem
bcr elections. Let the ball be kept rolling !
To Make Tomato Catsup. Tako one-half
bushel of ripe tomatoes, two quarts of onions,
one half dozen common size red peppers, (if
not quite ripe no matter.) Cut your onions
nud peppers fine and place them over a good
fire to stew, in a pint of water. Wash your to
matoes, cutting up the large ones, and put them
all in another kettle with one gallon of water
over a slow fire, and boil till soft, stirring of
ten to keep from burning to the kettle. When
soft, remove from the fire and strain them
through a wire sieve, rubbing them with the
bottom of a tin cup or dipper until all but the
seeds and skins are pressed through. These
place in a cloth strainer, and add the juice to
that which you have pressed through fhe sieve.

HOSTETTER'S STOMACH BITTERS.
It is a fact that, at some period, every mem
ber of the human family is subject to disease or
disturbance of the bodily functions; but, with the
aid of a good tonic and the exercise of plain com
mon sense, they may be able so to regulate the sys
tem as to secure permanent health. In order to ac
complish this desired object, the true course to pur
sue is certainly that which will prodnce a natural
state of things at the least hazard of -ital Strength
and life. For this purpose, Dr. Hostetter has in
troduced to this country a preparation bearing his
name, which is not a new medicine, but one that
has been tried for years, giving satisfaction to all
who have used it. The Bitters operate" powerfully
upon the stomach, bowels, and liver, restoring thorn
to a healthy and vigorous action, and thus, by
the simple process of strengtheiing nature, ena
ble the system to triumph ovd&isease.
For the cure of Dyspepsia, Indigestion, Nausea,
Flatulency, Lofsof Appetite. or Bilious complaints,
arising from a morbid inaction of the Stomach or
Bowels, prod ucingCramps,Dysentary,Cholk', Chol
era Morbus, Ac, these Bitters have no equal.
Diarrha-a, dysentery or flux, so generally con
tracted by new settlers, and caused principally by
the change of water and diet, will be speedily reg
ulated by a brief use of this preparation. Dyspep
sia, a disease which is probably more prevalent.
in all its various fonns, than any Other, and the
cause of which may always bo attributed to de
rangements of the digestive organs., can be cured
without fail by using HOSTETTER'S STOMACH
BITTERS, as per directions on the bottle. For
this disease every physician will recommend Bit
ters of some kind ; then why not use an article
known to be infallible ? All nations have their
Bitters, as a preventive of disease and strenrrthen-
er of tho system in general ; and among them all
there is not to be fosnd a more nealtby people
than the Germans, from whom this preparation em
anated, based upon scientific experiments which
have tended to prove the value of this great pre
paration in the scale -of niedicni science.

Bitters are indispensable, especially where the mo

of the child, consequently her strength must yield,
and here it is where a good tonic, such as UostcU

should by all means try this remedy for all ea

their use in all cases of weakness.
